Hi guys,

Just wondering what fuel pump others are using for their 1G-GTEs. I'm currently running the stock pump in the RA65 fuel tank that I've got. The 22R-E was a 2.4L but there's a pretty major power difference so it's a bit suspect whether it can deliver enough fuel...

Anyone know any other decent pumps that'll fit into an RA65 fuel tank?

Maybe you should go to the Mk2 forums/groups and see how the guys with their 7M-GTE's are getting along. Might have more of an idea considering they have the same fuel tank.

Nark,

I'm running a bosch - volvo pump... but mine runs from a surge tank... so its a different set up.

Have you had the flow rate tested?

Nark, go get a Bosch "040" or "019"

they are the largest intank pump bosch make.

they will support any amount of power that a 1g can make (maybe even "morboost") and can easily be modified to fit into your tank.

they will provide all the flow and pressure headroom you'll need.

also Nod Nod NOTHING BEATS BRAND NEW Nod Nod when it comes to fuel pumps.

drop me a line , we found the cheapest place for 'em too.

Yeah, I've had some mechanics test it. They told me that it flowed enough, but I'm not sure I trust what they say...

You can flow it yourself you know.

just get the pump to pump into the bucket for a set time and work out the litres per minute.

if it doesn't flow 2.5 litres a min then throw it away !!

Flow isn't the only consideration, I've seen lots of pumps flow fine but won't hold enough pressure.

Darren.

True, but it's one way it can fail, that is easy to test.

it only gets more complicated after that.

The prices range up to $600 depending on where you get it.

the cheapest place we found was in QLD i think. they overnight freighted (free) it for $435.

I will get the phone number off my brother.

sounds like a lot but fuel pumps are not cheap.

The legendary "bosch mtorsport" unit will set you back $600 + from most places.

Celicamad has told me in the past though he has a place he can get get good external pumps for 250, and he can also get a surge tank to suit for 150.

email him.

How hard is it to open up a fuel tank?! Are there any special considerations? Apart from trying to keep crap from getting into it.

Les, I forgot to get to you ask BD4s to flow test the pump for you.

Hey guys

Q: Does the VL turbo pump flow more than the NA pump??

Q: Would this pump fit well to a HR33 GTST skyline, an original one is like $900!

Cheers

Japspec, for your r33 I would strongly recomend the large bosch intank units "040" or "019".

all you need for the conversion is a phillips head screwdriver, hacksaw, and a large stainless hoseclamp.

the first time I did this changeover took 50 mins (r32gtst), drive in -->drive away, subsequent times even less.

it is very straightforward, and they are awesome pumps.
