Just wondering if anyone has a toyota with a 4m in.
i've got a 76 Mk2 corona with a 4m
I've had it fully rebuilt new pistons, head ported put a 350 holley exaust and extractors - its good for a 120hp.
Has anyone else tried working a 4m?
or heard of any good mods.
if your thinking why bother, just think off the look on people's face's when a green corona makes them pss off the lights then keeps going up to 200kmh WHAT THE!
its well funny.

Seriously, don't bother spending too much on the 4M.
I did, and I wouldn't recommend it. Ported head, cam, triple SUs extractors. Fun and kept VN V6s honest, but ultimately no great powerhouse.
If you can, do it to a Mk2 coupe - they are 60 kg lighter than the 4 door.
Drop a completely standard 2JZGE out of a Jap spec Crown into it. The motors can be picked up for around $1000 with loom and ECU. They have 220 horses standard.
In a straight line mine is as quick as a WRX STi as tested at Winton on Saturday.

Yeah i would love to get my hands on a coupe but there as rare as rocking horse shht in perth.
Are the 2jzge's better than the M series ie 7MGTE? Would i be right in saying the blocks are simalar? or is that the 4 - 5m.
It would be hard to part with the 4m it's got a wicked sound with the 2.5 inch exaust im worried a differnt engine will sound to ricey
but some turbo power would be nice.

I actually have both a coupe and a 4 door. The 4 door is currently having the 4M ripped out and a 'son of Frankenstein' hybrid 5MTE dropped in.
The 2JZGE (in the coupe) completely transformed the car. It is a FAR superior engine than any early M motor. Remember also that the NA 2JZGE puts out almost as much power as a standard 7MGTE.
Don't get me wrong - the 7M is a great motor (once you sort out the head gasket issue), but I am now completely sold on the 2JZ.
A friend of mine has a 4 door Corona Mk2 with a 7MGTE running about 9-10 psi boost, and it also goes very well indeed. The turbo motor affords easy upgradability when desired.
God, I'm ugly.

The coupe looks mean where r u from cause if u know of any mk2 coupes in perth i want one.
Your engine bay looks like it could do with a bit of a spit and polish but i bet it goes hard (assuming it goes) whats it put out (HP).
Is that the stock corona radiator, it looks like it hehe who needs a 3core when u've got that

I take my comment back about a differnt engine sounding to ricey
with that inlet manifold it would sound good.
