iggte clutch upgrade question

hi
i have an ra40 celica with a 1ggte engine.
i am not running any of the factory computer or loom.
i built the car about 9 years ago and just recently did some performance upgrades (separate turbo intakes 2.5" each, 3 inch exaust,gen3 turbos, etc)the car runs a wolf 3d ecu water to air intercooler and all of the usual performance upgrades, i originally used a hilux clutch, but now the extra hp has totally overpowered the clutch. it now spins the clutch in most gears. does anyone know of a clutch upgrade that i may not know about. bearing in mind that the flyweel and current clutch are generation 1 as gen 2 and 3 were not around when i did the conversion. also where is the best place to buy gaskets bearings etc.
any help greatly appreciated

Sounds like you need a button clutch or, if the budget permits, a twin-plate. Go and see a clutch specialist!

What kind of power are you making? A 1G with CT12s should be able to survive on a full face single plate clutch, provided it's up to scratch. Have a talk to Direct Clutch, he should be able to make up a pressure plate with a decent amount of force to hold things together.

we are running commodore coil packs running off the wolf
i am only using dizzy for the crank angle sensor, located in the bottom of the housing the rest of the dizzy was cut off to allow more room for the turbo intakes.
the car produces about 250-260 kw (you dont need to upgrade from the gen 3 turbos thay can produce 18 psi all day if you upgrade the massivly restrictive turbo intakes and give each turbo a descent size inlet with its own air filter, so the turbo's arnt fighting with each other for air, which they are standard!. it is also important to put as big as possible exaust pipe (i used 4") for about the first 80cm then into 3" for the rest this allows the turbo's to spin more freely with less back pressure.
bigger turbo's will only give you more lag.
the gine produces good power up to about 7500 revs, it will rev harder but there is no real point. i am running a gen1 engine with gen three stuff so its basically a gen 3 now.

not sure on times etc
the car is our demo car for work i own a car audio store.
it has an mtx rfl 15" sub which weighs a ton by it self then add the 40mm graftwood that makes the 150 litre englosure and amps etc the car,s not so quick these days. but it will still do a high 12 second pass.

just for your interest the car runs commodore discs that fit strait on the ra40 hubs no mods, and volve calipers,
i am running the standard 5 speed box that came with the engine, mod tail shaft, custom made 4.1 lsd in cut down vl commodore housing and vl turbo rear calipers, 17" crome rims commodore stud pattern as front discs give that stud pattern and amazingly these discs also give the exactly right off set for commodore rims on an ra40 celica, i found out this totaly by accident, its the same on most celicas i think!!!!

using vs coil packs
standard turbo manifold so far
been quite a few years since i dyno'd it
it ran about 257 at the fly wheel but engine tuner predicts around 300 something now, engine is out at the moment because clutch couldnt handle it,so we havn't dyno'd it again i will let you know actual figures soon.
where did you get your clutch. My flyweel is the smallest one. my gen 3 came with the larger flyweel that wont fit my bell housing etc, is yours the gen 1,2or3.do you know if the gen two has the same flyweel as the gen 1 or gen 2 or different again

Have you thought about just getting a stronger pressure plate.
I am interested to see what your manifold looks like, sounds like a good option for a power increase.

Have u tried a 1JZ GTE pressure plate? All you have to do is to drill out the locating pin holes a little bit and its straight on, i imagine this applies more pressure than the 1GGTE one, I run it in mine with a heavy duty double sprung hilux clutch-plate, havent really tried it yet as my car isnt totally finished. but i assume it will grab nicely!
