i brought a 18rg engine complete with extractors, twin solex carbies from the wreckers on the weekend for $400.
i would like to get some information about rebuilding the engine/what mods can i do to the motor?
and does anyone know a place that does cheap rebuilds?
how much does it usually cost to rebuild a 18rg.
Are the bottom ends on the 18rg the same as the 18rc?
ps. does anybody know how to tune the carbies correctly coz i just can not get them running right.
i live in perth western australia so want somebody to rebuild it over in perth. but can anybody tell me now how much i will be looking at for a complete rebuild if i take the engine apart and put it back together.
this will be my first car/engine i will be taking apart, is it very hard to put a motor back together, i do know it is not be easy but its a start on my own car so would just like any info about it?

umm yeah celicadbz the 18rg bottom end is the same as the 18rc so you just get bottom end bits for an 18rc
I know i saw it there 3 weeks ago. they want $750 for it and it could have shit loads of problems too. I have the efi going well just that the guts need replacing now. I just need to get the compression up thats all.
When I rebuilt my 18rg I just used standard 18rc parts with no problems. If you are after hard to find parts talk to IDB in richomnd melbourne. I heard of someone paying $130 or so form toyota, thats crazy when stainless steel valves can be had for $75-$85 and thats custom made to specification.
