Drive.com.au tells me that the 2.2L prelude from 1991 had 96 kW. Where did yours pick up the extra 44+? Engine conversion?

http://www.drive.com.au/buy/market_value/car_detai ls.asp?nvic=OVV&make=HONDA&model=PRELUDE&a mp;series=&year=1991&body=

Also - why did the engine need to be re-co'd at such low klms?

Uh, as you can see from my post, mine's a VTEC which is not the same as the one you are referring to. That's where I 'picked' up extra 44.

And as for the engine, there was something blocking the engine oil getting into the engine or something like that, so it damaged the bearing or something. I can't tell you in too much detail because that's basically what I know. Anyway, that's why I had to completely overhaul the engine.

Yes. I do have the receipt for the overhaul which lists what jobs have been done on the engine. I'd say it did about 10,000Km since the overhaul

I still call bullshit on your claim of 140+kW. Shocked

Honda didn't release the VTI-R until a few years later and only that model got the top spec engine.

yours is a nice looking car though. Evil or Very Mad

Gosh. how many times do I have to say it? do you even know much about cars? my car was imported, which is why i have VTEC engine earlier than it was released in Australia. Why don't you be careful about what you post? I don't really appreciate you saying that I bullshit to people. Are you saying that I'm lying to people about my car's engine spec? If you are such an expert, I don't know why you couldn't also figure out that honda didn't release any VTEC models with automatic transmission.
It is 142KW to be exact.

Well, it's not that it's modified. It's just that the model was released earlier than in australia. however, VTEC models were only released with manual gearbox in australia.

Keep your pants on coladuna.

My first post was an thinly disguised invitation for you to tell people that it was a grey import. You didn't. So - I tried again.

The reason I have done this is that some punter might buy your car thinking its a you-beaut Australian delivered honda (given that you didn't tell them) only to find out that its a grey import that he/she can't insure. Thats not really fair on the buyer. You also don't mention the method of import or compliance details, further hiding the cars origin.

The other option was that it wasn't really a 140kW donk. Given that you didn't know jack about what actually happened when it was re-built it was reasonable to assume you don't know jack about your engine. A lot of honda people think their car is king shit when really they are nice - but not that powerful. If yours is - well good luck to you. This line of thought looks like its wrong at the moment. It was still a reasonable guess.

Anyway - whatever - good luck with your sale.

I really don't know what your problem is. Why are you so agitated about all this? Are you worried that I'll lie to people and they'll buy the car without knowing it's an import? What do you mean I don't know 'jack' about my engine? Most people don't know much about engine as they are not a mechanic duh! And I don't appreciate your comment about honda people thinking their can is king or something? What the heck is that about? Go and deal with you own issues else where rather than here. All I did is post the spec of my car and you seem to have a lot of problem dealing with it. BTW, people came to see the car already and I told them it's an import (even if i don't it's quite obvious isn't it? it's got a nice big yellow plate which says it's imported.) Anyway, my point is you should watch your mouth before you start accusing people of ripping people off. I didn't hide anything and I got nothing to hide. People who saw the car like it anyway. so 'Keep your pants on' SXer.

fuck me... do you guys have jobs? or hobbies, or lives??!!

if i wanted to hear from a bitch, i would untie my girlfriend.

see that number of posts just to the left there?? you want to know why that is?? here is a bad explaination; if i am knee-deep in a swimming pool full of shit, i'm not going to walk into the deep end to climb out. some of you guys, however... not too bright...

i was exclusively a reader on these forums for a long time before i created an account (about 12 months ago). it has grown. there is masses of fantastic information on the site, through both threads and articles. and all that is due to the commitment of the users, some who have been around for quite some time. but you guys make it a little less usable, every time you put on the tight jocks that morning, and spend the rest of your day with a crushed nut looking for someone to spew at, inevitably finding solace in the anonimity of the internet. and it is happening more and more. you are fucking things up for people. you are making this an unpleasant environment to browse. sad.

some of you must have read Desderata, or whatever it is called... "go placidly amid the noise and haste..." mmm... soothing...

save the tantrum for mum, kids. no more dobbing. share. play nice.

oh, and don't reply to me with any reasoning. i don't give a fuck. better to work through it yourself, figure out at which point it was you turned into an utter cock, and then try to make the rest of your day's inputs constructive... my first thought was 'and then try drinking bleach,' but i guess the anger is subsiding. they don't build blind rage like they used too... all this 'pre-meditated' garbage, nowdays...

you make selling an import car sound like it's illegal or immoral or something.
Most people are clever enough to know it's an import when they contact me. if everyone was like you, don't know how those import car dealers will survive selling bunch of skylines, silvias and soarers. Really, if you are not even in the market for a car and not interested in my car, i don't know why you bother coming to this thread everyday.

what a stupid thing to say. Don't you think people will usually open the bonnet to check the engine bay before purchasing? you'll obviously see the compliance plate when you do that. Also, how the hell do you think I registered it if i don't have compliance plate?

All you had to do is ask the question "is it an import?" just like everyone else does. then I would've kindly said "yes, it is an import." Instead, you've gone on and on making me sound like i'm lying to people about what i'm selling.
You also mentioned that you can't insure it. What a joke? Are you saying my car is not insurable? oh.~~ my insurance company must be extremely generous to me then, for letting me insure it.

You might not be clever enough to find out things about the car before you buy it, but 99.9% of people do.
Also, I've had more than 20 people who's genuinely interested in the car and they all know that it's an import. some of them knew, some asked me and i've told some if it did seem like they don't know.
All your posts are doing is making me look like a fraud, which i'm not. If people just come and look at the car, they'll know i'm not trying to rip someone off.
I don't know what you're trying to do, but i'm sure you can find better things to do then try to ruin people's chance of selling their stuff, although i'm doing very well even with your sabotage

If you didn't get it yet, this is a disguised invitation for you to stop posting useless things in this thread unless you have any question about the car. Please just ask questions rather than accusing me of being a fraud

Yes - you're right. I have acted like a twat in this thread. I retract all previous statements and apologise for inconveniencing you during the sale of your car. I can only suggest I unwittingly sat on a carrot some period over the last couple of days. I think its gone now...

I am curious to know, however, why of the 20 people who have looked at your car - none have bought it? Its priced well under the value of the closest Australian model.

take it easy,

Apology accepted.
I didn't say 20 people looked at the car. Many people are coming on the weekend to see the car as they can't do that on weekdays.
I won't be selling until everyone sees the car. I've had people who wanted to buy straight away, but that's what I told them. Have to wait for other people to see it.
Maybe I should've put it up for like $7-8000+, that way people wouldn't think the car is dodgy. Well, see for yourself if anyone else is interested. I'll also be getting a safety certificate next week, hopefully if my mechanic has time

I'm posting this because I've had a person claiming that my engine's only 118kw. Just so that people don't get confused, my engine output IS 142kw.

The proof is that my engine number starts with H22A1. check out the engine number for 1994 VTiR model at Yahoo! Australia Cars. it's the same.

If you check the older 1991 Si engine number, it goes something like H23A1, which is the 118kw one.

Just making sure everyone knows
