Lighten a cast iron flywheel at your own peril.

Get your one made in chrome moly steel. The metal is stonger and hence can be machined to a greater extent.

The amount you can safely(!) lighten a stocky cast flywheel isn't really going to cause huge driveability issues - it's when you go to a 5" flywheel/clutch combo that weighs like 500grams all up that you have big issues Shocked

So whats a good streetable wieght for a flywheel for a sprinter? I plan on doing a fair bit of track work. I do have to drive this daily so I will have to make a comprimise somewhere.

Any thoughts?

As for the climbing hills thing, I went from a 7kg 4AGE flywheel to a 3kg one and didnt notice any loss in speed at all.
