Plastic Welding of bumperbars - Whats the deal ?

heyas - Just need to know a little bit about plastic welding and whats involved ..
The Grp a Bumper i have has a minor Split and a fee cracks in it and im wondering if This process would make it more likely to be repaired + "as good as " new

yeah i have had a front bar plactic welded before. looks fine once its done and resprayed.
some smash repairs will do it themselves, while other places get a special guy in to do it.
also its only recommeneded that u only weld bits that have no force on them, as its not as strong after the welding

While I'm not sure if there's anything available for the GT4, for many cars you can buy a brand new non-genuine bumper cover for a lot less than the cost of patching up the old ones - while the whole thing would need painting, an old one with any kind of serious damage would need that anyway. Just a suggestion!
However, if it's only small damage, you could probably have a go at fixing it yourself with a variety of hot instruments, maybe some fibreglass resin, sand it back, and paint over it.

When i was rebuilding my MA61, i got the front bar re-conditioned, they basically weld in new sections if any are missing, and fix any rips. Cost about $250 and it comes back in primer, tho u can get it resprayed for u. Check out the yellow pages for places in melb, not sure about geelong, heaps of them round tho.
