Why not just get a whole 5K or 7K block? If the engine numbers a problem, get out a set of number stamps Evil or Very Mad

4k and 5k cranks are the same item

i have not heard anything positive about the 7k motor yet...

in any case you can get a 4k to grunt if you put a high comp head on it, a bit of a cam and a decent induction setup.

By putting the 3k head onto the 4k bottom end, does that raise the comp ratio?
If so could i put a 4k head onto my 3k block to lower it.
The reason i want to do this is im doing a carby turbo setup and I dont think that the std comp ratio will suit the turbo setup.
Has anyone done this, what comp ratio did u get?
thanks.

if you get a head off a flat top piston 4k then you will lower the cr enough to do a turbo setup

carby turbo setups are quite dodgy though, is it just the money thing holding you back from efi?

Thanks for the reply, can you identify the flat top piston 4k head apart from the dished one without pulling the head off?

Yes i know that carby turbo setups are dodgy but its going into a bush basher and I dont want to spend much money on it.
im going to use a down draught stromburg off a 202 red motor.(as I have about 10 and they're easy too work on.)
I have a TC05 off a cordia(Im not too fussed about lag as it was free)
Will i need to upgrade the fuel pump or lines?
What r your suggestions on boost retarding(do i need it?)
Thanks in advance.

is it going to be blow thru? could be a nightmare to seal up the strobmerg, also do you have an adapter for the stock manifold?. if suck thru how will you have it mounted?? the cordia turbo will probabaly be too small, they are tiny... but it will still do the job, just not so well.

for carby setup i would have thought a suck thru SU setup would be easiest, you could easily make a 'J' pipe from the stock ex. manifold and just blow it straight into the original inlet manifold with an adapter plate... dodgy as but it would do the job on a paddock car...
