Hi there,
My 18rgeu doesn't like to start in the cold. The main reason went to EFI is for the better start in the cold. I am not sure if the cold start injector is working,(not sure how to check), or if i have wired it up right. If anyone has had a problem with this can you let me know. And if anyone know of someone to take it to to have a look at in Brisbane can you point me in the right direction.
thanks

Hey blaze - when its cold get your multimeter and back prob the cold start injector plug. start the car and make sure the injector gets 12v and times off after a short period.
The cold start is controlled by the cold start switch next to the coolant temp sensor. ones green plug and other is brown, not sure which is which.
you should have ignition supply to one pin on the cold start injector and also to one pin on the cold start switch.
The other pin on the cold start injector will go dirrectly to the cold start switch.
The body of the switch is where the earth is triggered to.
Hope you can work it out from that.

Another option is to unscrew the cold start injector form the manifold (plug the manifold with a rag), get a glass jar and place the injector so that it sprays into the jar. Get a mate to crank the motor and see if the CS injector is working.
I'm not sure how the 18RGEU setup works, do they also use an Air Bypass Valve?
Cheers

Hi. I have a similar problem with my 22re engine. It takes about 5 goes to get going in the morning and starts fine when warm. Was just wondering what did you do to solve the problem you had?

Hi,
You should of stayed with the carbs.
If they are properly tuned and set-up - and I mean properly by someone that knows what they're doing - you'll not have any cold or warm starting issues.
There appears to be a lot of misinformation regarding carbs are poor at cold starts. Well, yes they are if they're not properly tuned.

my cold start injector isnt even hooked up. the biggest problem i have whith my enging is it has no electronic idle control, so running cold is a bitch.
my ecu is just tuned to pour lots of petty in when its cold. dont see the difference in using the cold start injector.
