Hi
I've got a 1GGE in my KE35. They do fit without having to modify anything (other than mounts of course) but its a tight squeeze and you do have to move the radiator a long way forward. Having said that though......
.....we've just recently moved the engine back 100mm, so now have a nice big hole in the firewall. Everything fits a lot better now i.e the radiator etc and it should make the weight distribution a bit more handling friendly. I've also put IRS in (from a GX61) so you could say I've taken things a bit far!
I wouldn't say don't do it (but a 4AGTE would be the better way to go...) as to be honest it's been reasonably easy. Really comes down to what you can do yourself - if you can use a angle grinder and a welder you can do it
If you want to know anything feel free to ask.

Yip I've got a few pics, if you want I can email them?
The IRS is from a GX61 which I believe is basically the same as a MA61 setup. I've used Jag rear shocks mounted on the trailing arm forward of the hub and running up through the inner guards (where the back seat would be!) and mounted to a half cage.
I brought a complete GX61 and have used all the bits from that in the Corolla, struts, brakes, cross member etc

I am keen to see what you have done with the independent rear. It would be great to see what you have done. I was toying with the idea of putting a MA61 rear in my celica.

Actually the cars not finished yet but I'm nearly finished the chassis stuff and hope to have it certified and registered by the end of the year.....
I want it to be a road legal car (and road usable!!) as I want to get some good use out of it.

One of the (many ) advantages of living in NZ is that we have been flooded with used Japanese imports over the years, so the GX61 was an import. I brought it for $400 about 5 years ago and have used nearly all the mechanical bits out of it - engine, gearbox (W55), clutch pedal, front struts and brakes, master cyclinder, rear end and brakes, crossmember etc

yeah we made up an adaptor from the stock manifold
i also posted the stardand one aheap as well
not sure how it will go but u never know till you try
the turbo is a T70, just an ebay cheapy so im not expencting to much from it but its worth the money saved to give it a shot
as for the coil packs, there nothing special, just 6 bosch coils HEC715, just mounted in the neatest place we had
the dizzy cap is just abit of scrap aluminium cut into shape with a hacksaw and filed abit, does the job

you would assume he runs a DLI convertor, which removes the necessity of the distributor

The only way you can run that kind of ignition setup is with an aftermarket ECU.
The 1G ECUs can only handle the stock dizzy setup, or wasted spark if its the 1G-GZE.
