Ok well no one who is in the buisness seems to want to help me. I want to highly modify a 2TG and put it on a 3T block, bore it out, use over sized forged pistons, double sringed valves, posibly oversized valves, some head work. useing 55mm webbers. and a set of extractors and some methonol injection I plan to get around 200hp. If anyone can help me build this eninge please let me know. Benny

Read stuff in these forums first, and the old toymods forums.
Pistons are easy to get, if you pay heaps of money cutom ordered. Or you can use standard 3T pistons, max size is 86mm I think. THe exhaust valve relief needs machining out. There is a cast Repco piston avaliavle in 89mm for a 3T, but it has full skirts that need to be ground off (I have seen this done, not very nice).
Talk to Sean Malony, he will help. But do research first or you will waste his time. Standard single valve springs are ment to be good for 8000rpm, and are ment to be better than the double springs in the 2TGEU.

hmm, interesting about the single valve springs..... 2TGEU have bigger valves standard, but otherwise why bother with double springs then.
55mm webbers will be a bit excessive won't it? 45s or 48s for big top end would be more reasonable?

55 I do personally think is a little exsesive but toyota were using them on their race 2tg engines and they where producing about 180-190hp. And that is exactly what a plan to build is a race spec 3TG. sure it will be a daily driver but mehhh..... Extensive head work will be done, and all the other stuff to. It's just a matter of someone willing to help me build it.

Benny,
Mate there is a search option at the Top right of the forums type 2TG and have a read of the old threads there is alot of info already contained within these pages.
55MM Webers are TOO BIG ! I don't think they are, they are ! You want a good set of 45mm or 48mm at the most. Personally I would be using 45mm.
To get your 200HP you are looking at a pretty grumpy engine. The cams required to generate that sort of power mean you have no choice but to use Forged Pistons at around $1200 a set. There is simply not enough meat in the top of a cast piston to grind in Valve reliefs big enough for a Big lift cam.
Oh expext to pay around $700 for the cams to acheive this.
If you getting Forged pistons anyway you may as well get some extra CC's out of it Personally I recomend a 3.5mm overbore. The bore and hone will cost you around $140
Use the 2TGEU rods if you have them and if you think your likely to Rev the nuts of it (You will ) Then I'd strongly consider getting them Shot peened Linished and end to end balanced. That should cost you around $300+ dollars. Before you get that done of course get the crank and rods Crack tested for around $80.
Crank from a 3T-C is fine and for piece of mind you can get it Nitrided but you probably don't have to. Expect to pay around $350 for the nitriding and up to $150 for the crank. A crank Grind will set you back around $130 so try and get a good one. While we are on the crank you will need the flywheel and Crank doweled for that sort of Power (Or they will part company) the doweling including pins will be about $70
A complete engine balance is definatly necessary and must be done right. That should set you back about $200.
New timing Chain and Guides are very costly. A complete factory set will definatly make a dent in your wallet. New chains are a bare minimum and will prolly cost you around $80 - $100
New Bearings and welsh plugs etc will prolly be around $200 (Non Genuine) and the Gasket set should slug you around the $200 mark as well.
Head work is a whole seperate ball game and can be quite costly depends what you do as to what your up for.
I know I have prolly forgotten alot of stuff so I'll try answer anyother questions you have.
I would persoanlly advise against Full race spec but its your car so I'll leave it to you. Full Rally spec on the other hand.....
Hope that helps,

Thanks Rod, you sound like a real Banker!!! Look I'm going to sell my BMW so I'll have a bit of money to splash around on making this engine. Also I can get alot of these parts at trade prices and due to one of the Machanics I work with being into speedway racing, I've got a few good contacts up my sleeve to get the work done. It's just a matter of knowing what I want done to it exactly which is the problem. I'll keep in contact with you Rod, I know you could probably preach ever thing about a 2tg in your sleep Benny
