Ah, just found this thread. Thanks for the heads up feral. Smile

I'll most likely be there wandering around. If either of you (Shane or John) see me, say hello, as my memory is bad at remembering what people look like, especially since I last saw you guys a year ago. Smile

Was that your gt4 that was there? Like the ONLY gt4 I saw today?

That was a shame today, last year was much better.

Who owned the bronze sprinter with the 1ggte in it? My mate absolutly loved it, and thought it would be a really fun car to muck around in. Smile

And the soarers were really nice too, only V8's though.

Yea, I didn't see you guys either.

So why didn't you take pics of that sprinter?

And was that BA the one I would have seen when I left that was parked out front? (XR6 turbo)? One of my other mates would have drooled all over that if he was with us.

I only recall seeing only 2 bronze / champagne Sprinters today ... one was Anthony Pedwell's one with the Nissan CA18 turbo engine in it:

http://www.4age.net/anthony/engine.jpg
http://www.4age.net/anthony/dyno.jpg

The other was Glen's (or Master Yoda) one with the 100kw Redtop with Webber carbs ... So where was this car parked? Unless it came after 12pm when we all left? Confused

As for that race track Sprinter, that is Chris' car. Spoke briefly with him ... it's running a 20 valve block + blue top head with locked Jap spec diff etc etc ... what got me though is that that thing's running 325 degrees / duration cams ... Didn't know they came that big. Shocked

By the way, that GT4 Celica was cool ... might seriously consider looking for one but I'm told only 3 or so are in Qld and they're all imports. Got a market price for one of these? Sad

there was a white ST185(?) against the fence with 5 spoke mags...

They appear to be around the $7500 mark plus compliance costs btw.

Hmms - that Gt4 could be a paint to comply , i think its not on the list of " approved " imports

Only 3 in QLD ? What type was it ? certainly not the standard widebody - or the Carlos sainz model ? perhaps the Slimline Japspec group A? ( st184 body , gt4 running gear )

re turnout did the Celica club , MR2 club and the sprinter boyz go again ?

Souinds like the turnout was pretty poor after last year .

Our club ( the celica club ) alone had 8 cars at least there all shiney and on show ..

it would have been an 88 model, so over 15year scheme. Compliance wouldnt be an issue Smile

sorry, must have been an ST165 also, Im not up on celica designations

Dodgy Smile theres plenty of Gt4's out there that are not imports

I picked up mine with complete with a few goodies , just shy of 200K kilomiters , and an immaculate interior for 11 grand ..

Motor doesnt smoke at all , it runs like new , gearbox is in fantastic shape and no leaks

The only quirks with it was some paint peeing on the bumpers from shoddy repairs ( its had a few bumps in car parks, but ive piced up a brand new group A bumperbar and its going on ASAP) and a slightly sticky selector fork that causes minimal problems

they are fantastic to drive - and with a few thousand more spent on exhaust and suspension changes - they absoulutely Fly and handle like nothing ive ever driven before - pure AWD bliss

AHH thats a ST165 - not a 185

that one belongs to either eric and sonya - or Zoran Smile

Both have st165's i believe Smile They go quite briskly Smile

And yes atm theres a long waiting list to get them into OZ - because of supply and demand Smile

15 year old imports get a mod plate rather then a compliance plate when you get them signed off.... Costs $275 for plate plus of course there are the alterations required which varies from car to car.

Yes ... but I never realised that the ST165's had a GT4 version either until Riceboy pointed it out to me. Otherwise, I'd have just have walked past thinking it was another ordinary ST165. The labels by the side gave it away ...

My fave picks of the day were this car, that track Sprinter and that orange RA28 fastback. Smile

And the fact that everyone got a trophy for just turning up in a Toyota certainly made my day. Very Happy

My only gross was that none of the later gen Supra's turned up. Mad

That one in the picture did look like it, but I'm sure I saw 1ggte there someplace, either on the engine, or the mod plate. Ah well, could just be me not paying attention as well.

Actually, I just looked up the 1ggte and saw it's nothing like the one in that car, so I just wasn't paying attention bigtime.

AH CRAP! I should have put my car out there then.

And I DID wonder why all the cars had a trophy on them. I thought that the owners had gotten them from somewhere else and just had them there at the day to show them off.
