Have you thought about leaving the standard computer just to control the ignition?
Otherwise I think the dizzy from a 4AC should work.

to make a dizzy up to run a 4age on carbs:
"You actually need two distributors, one from the 3A, and one from the 3T or 4K-E.
The 3A distributor is the one you'll end up using, but you have to gut it first, then install the "guts" from the 3T or 4K-E distributor. When you're done, you shoulld have a magnetic trigger mechanical advance distributor that will fit a 4A-G."
hope this sorts it out.

If you go to the forums at www.mr2faq.com (site's down at the moment), a guy there called Bill Strong has some pictures up of how he did it. You'll have to search for a while to find the post..

what about an ae82's electronic dizzy? these have both a mechanical advance, and the vaccum adjustment.
fairly easy to find in a wrecking yard.
