I can get my hands on a ct20 turbo.. I have a purdy much stock four litre straight six.. would the turbo be 2 small? if i ran around 4-6pounds boost through it.. i would notice a difference though? and also.. would I have any motor problems? reason i am asking this on the toymods forum is because you's are alot familiar with a ct20 than the guys at fordforums.. Also I am able to get my hands on a manifold aswell.. Any comments will be great..
Cheers, Rob

I don't think a CT20 will be able to push through enough air for a 4L. And the size of the exhaust on them will restrict the exhaust too much. You'll probably end up killing the turbo pretty quick.
2 x CT20 turbos would be good.
A CT26 (3L supra turbo) might be stretched for the 4L, but probably not.

In my opinion a ct 20 would struggle to supply even modest amounts of boost to a 4.0 litre engine. seeing as they were only really designed to provide a (shitty / hot) 8 psi or so to a poor flowing 1.8 litre. A ct20 would also pose a large exhaust restriction, being so small with very small wastegate, further hurting performance. Boost would be difficult to control.
You need to get your hands on something much larger, T04 's can be had easily/ cheaply, perhaps a ct26 with to4 internals would be an option these are often for sale here as upgrades for the 7mgte.
Go big - even if you only want to run modest boost- the shher capacity of your engine will ensure good performance.

just a side note - the 4.0 six responds VERY well to supercharging instead - Friend in brisbane had his Futura running a ford supercharger ( factory one - where he got it from was unknown - but he got it thru the dealer near him ) and it was happily producing 235+kw of power .. Minor upgrades were done to the fuel delivery system + the auto transmission to handle the extra load - but ive been in that car - and for a bog stock looking grandpa falcon - it was SCARY for how it delivered the goods
The same supercharger - on a 5 litre XR8 weilded 330 KW ..
Sprintex make a setup to bolt on i beileve as do powerdyne ..
Full setup in the mag i have on my knee costs $5400 bit pricey!
have you thought about the BA series Turbo manifold setup with the gt40 garret turbo on it - ?? Im not sure if this could be adapted to the SOHC of the EF - but you could ask.
re Ct26 vs ct20 - id be guessing the ones off the 3litre supras would be a better bet to the smaller unit ..
( id always pondered how a 2jzgte conversion would go in a falcon )

just dug up an old mag that has a EL with a gas reaserch kit on it - using a to3 turbo - its also around the 5000 fot the full kit - comes with turbo , ex. manifold , full exhaust from turbo outlet back , modified chip , water injection , every nut and bolt , and full install instructions
Appaerently a avg mechanic according to the book can get it all running and installed easy enough

Falcon six we're talking? CT20, you MUST be kidding - maybe a 1JZ CT20 would be a moderate torque boost, but if you meant a 3T one...
Falcon sixes, with their long stroke, LOVE BIG turbos. Stick the biggest mother on their possible, it'll go hard. If you can't afford a new one, take the Zoom magazine approach and do a twin turbo conversion - they used twin RB20 ones, but twin 3S CT20s would work pretty well too, I'd think.

Definately not, on boost you'd only be pushing enough air up to around 3000RPM then probably start to really upset the turbo. Like, split every moving part of it, in fact, it would be an unfortunate turbo to have to try...
Remember the new Falcon Turbos have GT40 turbos to push through the amount of air required, they're huge, rated at around 600+hp.
