Need help 0n 4AGZE

I have a Ae92 corolla with a 4agze i got my car dyno and it produced 78kw at the wheels. Does any body know what the car produces at the wheels stock. All the components on the car are stock, eg: inter-cooler computer supercharger.
I feel when i drive the car the supercharger isn't boosting and i am not getting the full potential out of the car, but the dyno read out said it boost to about 6-8 psi
I was told that it boosts to about 5000rpm and the it starts to run to rich so the computer retards the timing and the super charger looses boost.
Does anyone know how i can get around the problem and can anybody tell me what the car produces at the wheels stock??
Regards

Let me guess, youre pulling well over 5000rpm a fair bit and dissappointed with how it feels up there.
The 4AGZE is what i'd call a grunt engine, it is designed to make its power in the low to mid range. Sure it'll rev to 7500rpm but flattens off after about 5500rpm because of its high rpm breathing ability, or lack thereof.
Take the 20V for example which too is 1600cc and part of the 4AG family. It is the exact opposite. Its magnificent inlet lets it breath so well in the top range that its whole structure is almost based around it. Its designed to spin to 8000 or so rpm to get the most from it. But its not even in the same league when it comes to the low and mid rev range that the S/C endows the 4AGZE with.
I reckon that theres nothing wrong with your 4AGZE. 6-8psi is about right and so is 80 or so rwkws for a stock package.
Its not that the S/C loses boost. It is a combination of a few things.
Firstly the ABV opens at about 8-10psi to keep boost at this level. so you're not losing boost, is staying at the same level where it should be.
Sure the ECU will pull some timing out of it, but this comes back to the fact thet the S/C is not designed to be spun really hard and so when it is it heats the air and the ECU retards ignition to keep the motor in one piece (stop it from knocking).
If you think that there still is a problem with your power output consider the following modirications then. This is what i'd do if i was to build a 4AGZE...
- 4AGZE
- 1GGZE supercharger pulley'd to make about 12psi
- Set of well designed 4 into 1 extractors
- Re-designed inlet
- Very good intercooler
- Aftermarket ECU
As a final thought, dont gert too caught up with dyno figures. sure they're a great yardstick but are to imprecise to bank on. Readings are affected by ambient temp, gearing, tyre grip and the list goes on. differences of up to 10% have been noted between different dyno's. As a tuning tool though, ther are invaluable
So dont get disheartened and let your car/work come down to a single number on a computer screen. Instead look at the shape of the curve and judge the car on how it feels when you drive it.

I had my offroad buggy on the dyno last week and i was disapointed with the figure as well, the dyno report said it only has 84 kw at the back wheels with 12 psi boost and a
motec ecu, the guy said the most he has got out of a 4agze with a front intercooler, motec and a tuned exhaust was 96 kw and it was pushing about 14's over the 1/4 mile in a datsun ute.
When i took it for a drive it was really quick,
so i would not be worried too much about the dyno figure.
The thing they said would make the biggest difference would be to move the intercooler, my intake temp on the dyno was 140 degrees celcius and the lower the intake temp the more power.
The ute had about 20 degrees intake temp because of the intercooler being front mounted.

Just a note on the side. I went for a ride in a guy's 4AGZE in an AE101 Csi corolla.
I have to say that the thing felt really gutless. Even though he flogged the crap out of it, it didn't feel like it had any torque, and he was basically just revving the thing out to get some speed.
I've also driven an AE101 GZE in an AE82, and this thing had so much torque that you could really feel the pull from 1000rpm in second gear. That ran 8psi, and it was a screamer. Top mount intercooler everything standard, and a 20V box. I think the ratios had something to do with it as well.
Have fun!
