can anyone tell what is the difference between an ltx8 and an ltx12? also, how does an ltx12 compare to a wold 3d V4. Basically, it is between the microtechs and the wolf for my 1jz. opinions?
thanks

when it comes to wiring them up, the microtech is dead easy to do yourself.

thanks draven and juzzo. How much would i expect to pay for an LTX12? Do they still have the hand controller or is it only laptop tunable?
thanks

LTX12 has -six ignition outputs (six coils @ sequential fire)
-six injector outputs, six injectors sequential
LTX8 has - 4 ignition outputs, can run an 8cylinder in waste spark. That's what i'm running on the 7MGTE.
You can tune with handset or laptop, laptop is easier.
The "X" stands for inbuilt igniters, which are great.
I found whilst wiring up the 1J the factory igniter is running them in wastespark anyway even though there are six individual coils.
So going to the Microtech immediately doubles your coil charge time and hence the flux collapse in the primary side of the coil making a more powerful spark accross the plug.

What sensors does the microtech need to run? Do you need to get sensors with the ecu or buy them seperately (any idea how much)? I was looking at getting an mtx-12 but the seller was saying it was just the unit and loom so I was kind of concerned about how much the rest might be to get together. Also with the preprogrammed chip they put in them (for the plug in and play start to tuning) how difficult is this to change? - this unit was originally set-up for a rotary and I need to set it up for a 4cyl, does it must mean having to start from scratch or are there more fundamental problems? Thanks for you help, Chris.

ok
first of all, the microtech uses the standard engine sensors (which is *really* helpful)
if it's already been used in something, you're going to get a loom that has been hacked into little pieces, so you'll need a new one from microtech (about $100).
with the tuning... you'll basically need to get it re-tuned, professionally. that, or ask microtech if they can give you the base map for your engine.
I'd strongly recommend getting a laptop one, as laptop tuning is much easier

Ring Microtech and tell them your sending your ECU back to them and you want it upgraded to the LTX format with the base map of the 1JZ.
That'll be $200, get them to also send a new loop for the engine (1JZ) as well.
