18R-GEU wont start: Do i need to run a Fuel Pressure Regulator?

Hey, we've got the 18r-ge all wired up and injectors working fine now, it just wont start now. Cant think of what it could be apart from the injectors needing a fuel pressure regulator. Im running a bosch 008 high pressure pump which came with my motor.
I think their might have been one in with the parts which came with the engine so we're hooking that up and seeing if it turns over..
What do everybody else use in their standard efi setups? e.g. 18rgeu's & 2tgeu's?
Just seeing if anyone knew off hand if you require some of of pressure regulator in the fuel line..
Thanks alot,
ill inform you of what happens 2moro when i try and start it..
Cheers
Guy
also, theres one or two pin outs and wires we cant figure out on the ecu and just in the wiring.. its weird, they could be for a fuel pump or something but we're kinda guessing cos there's little for it to do? mite be the oxygen senson pinout

do you have a return from the fuel rail?
If you do then pressure will continously be low
If you don't you will burn out your pump as its working maxed out all the time.
All efi systems need a fuel presure reg. You had better get yourself 1.

Have you got your timing right?
I can't see how you would not be running a fuel pressure regulator as there should be one attached to the rail with the return fuel line attached, are you running a return line as you must otherwise the engine will just flood.
If you are getting spark then check your timming if you are running electronic ignition check that the ignition module is wired to the dizzy such that the most advanced timing is acheived ( there are two wires from the module to the coil they will work wired both ways one way will give a more advanced timming result).

Actually I remember looking at the pictures of your engine and noticing no regulator. it should be attached to thew fuel rail before and then the return line to it. When I got mine going it ran a really high idle and ran lumpy as a pigs ass. I checked the timing and it was 90 deg advanced. not sure why it wasn't back firing or anything. and about those pin outs. I opened mine up to check the pins as it seemed different to other diagrams I have seen. it has a (Vf) what is this?? if any one know can you tell me Here is a diagram of mine.

VF on toyota Ljet is typically a test socket, got no idea how to use it though.
If you don't have a regulator as blaze is suggesting get one, your car will either be flooding(no return) or getting little fuel (no pressure flowing straight through). Check your injectors are pulsing best to use and LED with a 800 ohm resistor, don't use a test light with a globe or the ecu could blow with that load (high current is bad).
