Hey,
How are you? This afternoon some stoopid guy came rear quick out of no where and smashed my bum at 90 km/h on elizabeth street full riding off my ae86. And after that he said it wasn't his fault! Which I thought was really strange and upsetted me even more. Also the fact that he was speeding he said it was my fault! he even told me that he didn't see me because he was looking behind his chair. Also the last thing which pissed me off even more is he laughed and said wat a nice car too bad its smashed and said it was just pure bad luck! Well thats my story. Also one more thing is it easy to get an AE86 rear tail light?
Cheers

Yeh I did get his details for sure I did. He really didn't care due to the car being a business car and not his own car. It was my first accident as well and a bad one at that. But it should be fine.

Damn, sorry to hear bout that, being rear ended at 90kms has gotta hurt, glad ur ok!
I thought there would be more damage to the car than just a rear light? Or have you got the other parts?
Good luck finding a light, they are hard to come by these days... Hope you can get her back on the road, i hate seeing ae86's going like that

ok, for starters, you don't have to find sht unless you have a deal going with your chosen repairer,
HIS insurance company buys them direct from toyota, and who cares how much THEY have to pay for them. i cant believe he claims it wasnt his fault, but admits to "looking behind his chair at the time"
dont stress too much, as it was a work car it is almost certain that it was insured, as opposed to getting hit by joe dunnydore in an Xsomething falcon.

I think the rules have changed a bit..
They've got this list of things they can do to fix your car... it's repair, reconditioned, Taiwanese copy, then genuine parts in that order... this is what I've been told by a panel beater as to how insurance companies would like the repairers to do.

AhhhhhhhhHHHHHhhhhhhh......
TRUST me, insurance companies are TIGHT asses. my car took well over 4 months to be repaired. then a further 8 months to straighten up issues with the alarm they installed and they couldnt hook up a cd player. till this day they refuse to connect my rear speakers claiming my car doesnt have any but what are the speaker looking things in the rear then? and this is from a very large reputable company. well if the insurance company decides to do you in da butt you take control and keep on their backs until the repairs are 100% satisfactory.
koko i have to congratulate you on your level of maturity and level headedness. i probably would have had to be restrained if i was in your shoes.
and welcome to toymods

Insurance Companies have all sorts of Wierd rules !
4 Months is not right tho, If the Damage involves safety items such as your lights then there is a 8 Week Maximum for replacement Parts and repair when Tina's Crown was Hit. Cause they couldn't get Headlights the car was paid out for the repair bill but not written off. (Ie we can fix it but its not a write off soo Heres the money and now its your problem... Bastards !)
Good luck with it but no matter what if they Rear end your car Its THEIR fault !
If you need a Good Panel beater tho who will help you with what to do, Give me a call and I'll go round to Winsdaor Automitve Body Works with you. Adam sponsors the club and has done a few Toymodders cars now, All of them have been happy with the final results. He also just got a Wicked new Spray booth !

Hey thanks for the posts and references. I am only just 18 so yeh i didn't really know what to do and like didn't hit me that my car was smahsed that bad to get angry I was more upsetted as it could have been totally advoided if he like pulled over to look behind his seat which would be the best option. Well my car is soon to be fixed as the panel beaters said it can be done. Which is good news. The reason why i am asking for a tail light is because I heard it is hard to find but are you guys sure panel beats can order one directly from toyota because if this is the case then its no problems at all. As I'm not the one paying. He hit me pretty hard but my right tail light it okay and not damaged as he tried to change lane to advoid hitting me.
Cheers

if you want to royally screw him over - get the name of the company he worked for ..
since it was a company car - they will eb held resposible for the insurance claim .. Tell the polite " boss " that the guy acted like a dick after writing off your car - WHILE SPEEDNG - then laughing it off - and youll probably see him at centerlink the week after int he dole que looking for a new job
This is being incredibly mean to the other party but F*&K him if he cops an attitude like that with you when you are in the right and he was being plain dangerous and could have killed you or others ..
My ex housemate had the same thing happen - guy ran into him - then left the scene of the accident - nearly running the ex housemate over in the process ..
We had the offender charged for speeding , culpable and reckless driving - and leaving the scene of an accident .. Mind you - he tried to deny this - but when you have 4 witnesses - and a police statement - his boss wasnt very happy at all ..
