it would be much easier to buy the stock 3tgteu ignition module as this has the output wires to trigger another coil, at 180degrees after the primary. You would have to look into adapting some kind of twin spark module to your coils, or just buy a 3tgte module and wire it up to your new coils. I don't think the aftermarket bosch module would trigger two coils inpedentantly, and it would be a waste of time having two coils firing the two sparks at the same time (two ignition flames affect decent spark) but it can be done. You could always just run a single spark setup and forget about the second coil.
I can point you in the right direction wiring up the stock ignition module if thats the path you choose.

I think you will find the 3tgt does fire at the same time, there may be a 5deg difference but not 180 deg. Apparently the second coil will drop out around 4000 rpm but I haven't confirmed this. Yes the 3tgteu ignitor may be ok but I doubt the ems supports it. I don't know whether it has dwell control for advance I know it has it for retard (knocking)
Best bet is to use a two channel module that is compatible with the ems. What module do you currently have? it could be a two channel module that in that case two wires from the dizzy to the module, +ve ignition to both coils, ignition module -ve (should be 2 if twin module) to coils and a couple of wires from module to EMS for est.
By the way the module triggers the coils based on dizzy signal

I'm quite sure the 3t-gte in stock form fires the plugs around the same time.
It is confusing when you look at the rotor button as at first glance it does look 180 degrees apart, but the tabs on the dizzy cap/hi tension leads are positioned so it fires around the same time..
With my Autronic & MSD setup I fire both plugs at the same time.
Cheers

the numbers read on the terminals as follows:
16
15
7
3
which terminal is positive and which is negative?
roger wat do mean by +ve, -ve?
and finally is the red wire coming out of the dizzy positive or negative?

ta22celica_boy,
The module you have will be no good for controlling the ignition through the EMS (that is if your ems has ignition control). The module is not a 2 chanel module and will only run one coil.
+ve means positive
-ve means negaitve
If you were to use this coil on the 3tgteu with both plugs the only way to do it would be to buy a dual fire coil. If your EMS supports ignition you are best to buy a module that is dual channel that the EMS supports. One option may be a commodore V8 dual channel module if EMS support it.
by the way your pins out is like this
16 -ve side of coil
15 +12v ignition
7 ignition out (dizzy wire)
3 ignition ground (dizzy wire)
It is difficult to tell what the wires from the dizzy are ie ground, ignition out the best way to tell is to suck and see. Connect them up one way and get the engine running, then try the other way, which way gives you the most advance? the most advanced result is correct.
If you are going to run fuel only best to get yourself another module to run to the other coil feed the ignition signal to both coils(dizzy wires) and don't forget to use heat sinks and heat sink paste when mounting the modules.
Is your dizzy currently locked? ie no movement between rotor and shaft? (grab you rotor and try and twist it if it moves it will not be locked) If your dizzy is permently locked look at getting the 2 channel module as the dizzy advance/retard that the bosch module requires will not be working.

why dont u ring ems
im pretty sure they have a good help desk section
they can advise u what parts to run
and get them to fax a wiring diagram if u dont have one
makes life alot easier
if u have the right ems for the engine
it should have 2 triggers coming out to 2 modules and then to 2 coils
u said u got the engine with the 3sgte
was it running is the ems for that engine
usually when u order an ems they modify it internally to suit the engine so check that out
maybe do some ringing round first to see
better to spend bit more getting the right parts
less hassles in long run and get better performance out of it
