SA63 front brake upgrade? Sun, 01 June 2003 05:32 Go to next message
the brakes on the car are pretty good as is (except the front right disk needs changing) but would it be a good idea to change them when i put the 1g in.

legally i wont need to change the brakes when the new engine goes in as it is the same capacity as the current engine.

is there any better brakes that will bolt in with very little or no modification.

cheers

Nope. Considering the fronts are pretty much the same as the MA61 Supra, I don't think you really need to worry about them.

acording to DBA the rotors are identicle for the ra60/65 sa63 and ma61.

i was just wondering if there was a 4 spot caliper avalible.

ill just get new drilled rotors to help disperse heat and get new pads

cheers

Rotors are the same. The calipers are slightly different from what I remember. I know the pads are different...

Drilled rotors don't help dissipate heat. Get slotted rotors; drilled are strictly for wank value if you don't have a full-on race car.

There is actually no difference in braking performance between drilled and slotted rotors.
But drilled rotors crack/warp easier.

Some people will argue that the slots actually make performance worse in one outright stop. That said, if you ever needed to do it over and over again, I'd go slots every time.
