removing the 1jz inlet manifold

ok, pulling the wiring out with the manifold on has hit a couple of snags, so I'm going to pull the inlet manifold.
How would I do this?
First. disconnect fuel pump, and run the engine till it stalls from fuel starvation.
then disconnect any hoses that will prevent moving it.
then remove manifold and go to town.
am I missing anything? I assume I will need a new manifold gasket, but I'm more interested in problems that might cause my engine bay to catch on fire, or my engine to die

Yeah, killing the pump and running it till it dies is a good idea - but in normal EFI systems the moderate pressure (~30psi) isn't exactly gonna blast you to the moon anyway. Before you start loosen the fuel cap, and even if you don't disconnect the pump, you should only spill a small amount of fuel anyways. Another suggestion - when you've got the hoses off, shove something clean up there to stop them siphoning fuel everywhere while you're not looking

ehehehe
yeps, I'd thought of that.
no oil/coolant/other misc fluids to worry about?
should I clean anyhting while it's off? it's not something I want to do particularly often

also, does anyone have for sale or know where I can buy a 1jz inlet manifold gasket from? (apart from japan)
do any oz-delivered cars have the 1jz-ge, and is this manifold the same?

Talk to Mark Emerson at Penrith Toyota. He'll sort you out. They stock or can source 1JZ parts at reasonable prices.
