4age engine abit rough Sun, 01 June 2003 10:09 Go to next message
I need help.

Usual 4age into sprinter, was running fine for about 1-2wks then all of a sudden, bugger all power up to 3000-3500rpm then she starts to come on-song again.

There is a whistle for about 5-10 secs after i turn the motor off, Usually after a quick squirt. Could it be leaking radiator cap, leak in the water pump(no visable signs of fluid) or could it be the round vacuum thing (couldnt remember what it is called) that is connected to the TVIS

I have been told that the power problem is the Map Sensor, and i trust the person who told me 100%, but these over problems all seem associated, concidering they werent there before the power loss.

Has anybody dealt with this before or should i bite the bullet and get a new Map Sensor.

Steve

I have exactly the same problem... I take off and the car bogs down like there's no tomorrow... Gets to about 3000rpm and then starts to pick up... I don't have a clue why it is and I have asked a few ppl at work and they don't know either...

Can anyone help... Please... I'm desperate...

have you checked that all the connections for T-vis are ok, nothing's popped off? also have u played with the timing? if u advanced it too much this can happen.

Timing affects T-VIS greatly.

Check your timing, if your timing is fine, triple check all of your hoses again. If its still not right go out and buy a decent set of plugs.

My guess would be timing though, they can be slugs when the timing is out.

Timing is fine but there seems to be some sort of flow restriction in the pcv, i cleaned and there was a little junk but nothing unusual. Helped with acceleration a little.

All hoses on TVIS seem fine but there is a little whistle cuming from down that way.
