You can vastly simplify that by using an integral handbrake caliper (like off an XF Falcon or a Sigma). That would negate the whole internal drum handbrake thing.

Yes but these are known to hold well
i was also hoping toyota would have one
but i am going to be building a full float toyota hilux rear axle and going to be using a landcruiser style tailshaft mounted handbrake

I believe the some Coronas (eg Avante ST141) have rear disks with internal drums for the handbrake.

Biggest Toyota disk with an internal drum handbrake is the ST205 GT4 Celica. The internal drum handbrake is 170 mm and the rotor diameter is 315 mm.
Many late Toyotas have 190 mm internal drum handbrakes, (MA70, MZ20, MX83, JZA80, xZ30 Soarer), and this coincidentally is the same as VT Commodores and Tickford Fords. The HSV stuff runs out to 345 mm (I think), and if you want you could go to a Harrop rear disc with custom cast bell to 375 mm. Expect a big bill if ordering anything in that league.
Mercedes also use internal drum handbrakes with a diameter of 165 mm. Their 500SL uses a 300 mm rear rotor.
As you can see from the article, I just used the MZ20 backing plates and had them slightly modified to fit. The internal drum handbrake mechanism fits perfectly. Not at all sure how that would work with a full floating rear end.
If you plan to use a tailshaft hadbrake, then you need not worry about the internal drum handbrake at all. Use whatever rotor you want and just make an adapter plate suit.

putting discs on the rear of your hilux will totally upset your brake bias.
Doing this mod without modifing the front brakes will make your hilux braking worse.
Due to the fact that its a utility with a light rear and also a load proportioning valve for the rear brakes your better off leaving the brakes alone. They work very well(providing they are in good condition) as they are designed to pull your vehicle up loaded and a fully loaded hilux can easily clear 2 tonne

I use an adjustable proportioning valve, and my Hilux rear end is in a car.
