Using Hub Extenders

Okay, the other thread running has jogged my memory, because I wanted to ask this before.
Are there any issues with running hub extenders with higher offset wheels? I understand they are different to spacers.
I can understand it may be a bad idea if you are extending the track much past factory with them, as this may put stress on the bearings.
The Mk2 Supra came with a 7" wide wheel with a +8mm offset, so would there be any issues with running a higher offset rim and the hub extender to restore a similar ratio and "overall offset"? When you think about it, all a low offset wheel is in some cases a normal wheel with an extension in it to push the mounting point further back.
Are they legal?

I don't see them as a problem when you are using them to retain the original track. As long as they are properly made, machined from billets, not that cast taiwanese crap that is out there, and with proper hub locators, they should be safe.
I think HR makes some, they are TUV approved, some german approval board. Good enough for them, it's good enough for me.
Plus the added weight of 4 studs and 4 wheel nuts to each wheel.
But unless they are original equipment they are illegal, well in Vic anyway. Some Porches run them OEM.
Opens up all the wheels ppl selling off imported Silvias and the like.

I got a set of 16 x 7 work ewings that i wanna put on my ta63. Offset is something like 35 so 25mm thickness should make it right. Billet racing wheels does them, lowest quote i got from the net.

Gidday
BOLT on wheel spaces are not necessarily illegal. If they do not affect the track of the car they can be used. That is if you use them to enable the use of different offset wheels for example. I had 25mm bolt on spaces on the back of my car as I had changed the struts at the front and had to use different offset wheels. The rear track remained the same and the car ws engineered with these in place.
I have 2 available as I have since installed a 60mm wider diff - I paid $135 ea for them to be made. I believe that the Adelaide 'drift wrecker' does bolt on wheel spacers for drift cars.

Thanks for the info. Surely someone else has some info on the pros and cons of them...

If you are going to use them, make sure you get the ones that actually bolt to the hub. The spacer type will put a much higher load on your wheel studs.
A general rule in Engineering is for gaps less than 25% of the bolt shank diameter, bending effects can be ignored. The problem is that most wheels use the countersunk, steel wheel type nuts on them which already give you a gap of around 50% of the diameter.
I think the MA61 wheels might use the older tube type nuts. These are a much better option in my opinion.

Hmm, so the proper bolt-on ones should be okay?
You say you have two available ddeane, how much you want for them? Are they 4x114.3?
Also, I'll assume by "Japanese Drift Wrecker" you mean Japanese Motorsport

You can get rims made to order with spacers cast to the wheel hub.
I've got ROH rims done this way for the Sprinter.

I bought the car with the rims already on.
They're Drift R rims 16x7 with spacers and drilled for the Sprinter PCD.
I was told that it was an extra $80 per rim for the mods, don't quote me though. They were done 4 years ago.
