I really dont understand now, ive blown 3 external pumps and NOW an INTERNAL
Ive replaced lines and tank (to get the inline)
what could be causeing them to blow? all lines are at the correct size and they are blowing within 5kms of use!
could my regulator be faulty?
im seriously going nuts not, havent driven in 2 weeks

sounds like ya got a wiring problem, you must be pumping 14v to them they dont like that
if ya cant sort the wiring out try and make sure they are only getting 12v, you should be able to get something inline that will reduce ya voltage
thats if thats ya problem

yup, most fuel pumps are 12V, not 14-15V (but some are ok..)
what pumps are you using? is your regulator regulating?
if you need to bring the voltage down, you need a big assed resistor. since pumps use about 5Aish, you're looking at 60-70watts worth resistors!!! try to find a resistor pack from a car that had one for the fuel pump.
time to hit the wreckers, or at least check on the wiring diagrams of some EFI cars (maybe the ones the pumps are designed for..)
also a long shot, if the pumps flow a lot more than the standard one did, the pressure reg may not be able to flow enough to keep pressure down. if you were in sydney, you could borrow my gauge :/ there are Speco EFI fuel pressure gauges on ebay atm for like $28. they have 1/8 NPT fitting and they look good enough. that's the one i have.

Definitely get a fuel pressure gauge. Excessive fuel pressure can kill pumps prematurely, and this can be caused by a faulty FPR or a blocked return line. Also check your tank for any crud floating around; fuel pumps don't like sucking up foreign objects.

A tyre pressure gauge for high-pressure fuel? No thanks!
You don't have to spend anywhere near $150 on a gauge. Just get an oil pressure gauge (these don't cost much) and plumb it into the fuel rail. I have one of these in my Celica so I can keep an eye on the fuel pressure.

Norbie,
Just saying for $10 you can build a guage, mine has work reliable for 2 years. An oil pressure gauge probaly works fine also.
But it is illegal to run high pressure fuel into the cabin. Tapping into the fuel rail seems a little to perminent for my likings, may be ok if you use a remote sender.

LOL, I'm not running fuel into the cabin... I'm using an electric gauge.
