i have a 4x4 98 hilux with a 3rz-fe in it and i want to do a engine swap to a 1jz-gte and i was wondering if it is possible and if so what mods will i have to do.

do you have any idea what sort of gearbox you're going to use?
you hoping to keep 4WD, or going to go back to RWD?
have you measured the engine bay to see if the 1jz will fit?

Well mate the 1jz will fit .Nice tight fit but will go.Just finished a 1gte in my 1991 hilux 2x2 good project nice to drive .So get your self a front cut and go for it

Apparently Hilux transmissions are very similar to the R154, so if you use a 1JZ bellhousing it will just bolt up. That makes the job a lot easier!

i built an own a 1jz powered hilux .. 2wd and its rn85 89-96 .. dunno how different a newer lux is but i should be possible ... dunno but the gearbox setup .. 2wd is easy but have fun gettin the 4wd system running . i did a 14.2 with a single spinner and street tyres .. but i have a garret gt30 on theere now and a haltech so hopefully ow 13's high 12's

i used the radiator out of the jza70 supra half cut i bought .. it works great .. using 2 ICE 12" thermos .. has a 3" thick intercooler blocking it and still works great
