Yeah, been using Mobil 1 5W40 (I think) for years now.
It's a bit thin so cold starts make a bit of a noise for about a second... But after that it's all sweet.

Must look in the manual again tonight to check. I run Mobil 1, and am sure that I did this as a result of reading the manual.

The official oil recommended by Toyota at the time of sale of Gen 3 1GGTE's was 10w30, as stated by the stickers that came on my half cut.

Remember though that any oil grade listed in the manual or on the 1/2 cut is for Japanese conditions i.e. colder climates. If you really want to find the grade then ask toyota the recommended oil for the Australian MA70 Supra and use that.
