step 1. of my twin charge

probably not the right title. anyway. i managed to get rid of the my old sub box (10" bandpass) and my spare s/c tail lights today. i ended up getting a t-25 turbo in good order, with the dump pipe and manifold (the manifold i cant use as it's off a ca18det) so there is step 1, of my twin charge system got. now i just need to accumalate the other bit's needed to do it, and i'll give it a go. (i've thought up a different setup than usual). but while i was at the guy's place, he said "here why dont you bolt this on and see how it goes, just for fun" as he handed me a sc12 with a fixed 90 mm pulley!! (mine is 125 mm).he rekons it's of a ze carolla that used to do 14.5 psi! so of course i took him up on the offer! so i went home (late this afternoon) and wipped my blower out and wacked the other one in, bugger. i had to go to town (approx 38 k's) to get a get a smaller belt. after it was all on (it was dark at this time) i went for a spin, the response was awsome the boost gauge (and my tyres) whipped around, but as soon as it reached 7 psi i got serious belt slip(sqeall!) so i went home and tightened it, so i'll find out 2morrow if it really does what it's supposed to do. woopppeeeeeee! sorry for the long post.

well, it didnt do 14 psi like he said, but it did do 12psi! (the ze it come off might have had a bigger crank pulley) the throttle response was awesome, it pulled hard! we have a dyno comp on here on the 6th of july, so i might leave it on till then and see what it's producing (i dont expect much, it is all standard apart from the small sc pulley) but it still will be interesting. (that's if i dont blow it up between now and then!!) i have a bad habit with my right foot!! they're doing print out's so i'll post it here (unless it's to shameful!) can't wait to put the turbo on though!

depends just _how_ hard ...
hey, you havent managed to get any compressor maps etc for the SC12 have you? I cant seem to find any data on it.
On my twincharge system, what I really want to do is have it at peak efficiency at around 4k (or wherever the turbo comes in at equal boost i have yet to ... which determine as i dont have the turbo ... ) before i disengage the clutch, open the bypass valve, and let the turbo take over.
I want to produce as much boost as possible without increasing the temperature of the intake charge above that at which the turbo will. Otherwise, i think the transition could be a little bumpy.
I could do it trial-by-error, but i would prefer to get the shaftspeed right first time, as getting pullys for my application is probably going to suck my wallet dry.
It will take a bit of a fiddle, but i reckon twincharge will rawk when i'm finished.
(oh, btw: im still on step -4 (engine isnt built))

yeah, i just read the HKS way ... and it dosent make much sense to me ... supercharging the bottom of the rev range like i intend to do, makes much more sense to me ...

yep, plus if you got a bigger turbo that takes a bit to spool up, blowing into it with the s/c it should help it spool up quicker. esteban, i would only use the factory s/c pulley and crank pulley. that should keep the heat down as well, let the turbo produce the real power. i would even try, once you have it all going, the ge crank pulley?, it might give only about 5psi?, but that would be enougth to get you off the line until the turbo spools up? an idea anyway.

Actually, for the street, i was going to be happy to run around on the supercharger most of the time. I wasnt too worried about turbo spoolup, as I would most likely only use the top end of the rev range at the track.
but, the more boost the better hey
