I wish i could use them on my 18rg GROAN!
Surely someone has some efi gear for an 18rg?!
Someone?
Anyone!

Ben,
I see no reason why the 3tgteu gear can't be fitted onto an 18rg. The air flow meter diameter is identical. The 18rg system is the same system as the 3tgteu (Ljetronic/nippondenso) the advantage the 3tgteu has over an 18rg ecu is the boost enrichment good if you ever wanted to turbo charge the 18rg but can be left disabled. Another option for you ben is the 2s injection gear off the camry leaded version, it runs on a 2 litre and is almost identical to the 18rg stuff, and would work just as well, most wreckers have them. The 18rg manifold is a little more difficult to find.
just another note, all the sensors remain the same between the 2tgeu, 18rgeu, 3tgteu, 2se (1984-5 leaded camry) as they run variants of l_jetronic you can even interchange parts with bosch systems.

So the 3TGEU computer can be used? Thats not really all that important as before i actually convert it all to efi i wanted to buy a microtech or something similar......
So......If i buy the computer, Look, AFM and injectors off you, WHat else do i need to actually have it converted?
VERY INTERESTED

Ben,
Yes you could use the computer to run the 18rg. The minimum effort to fuel inject an 18rg using ljectronic gear.
EFI fuel pump - use a camira JD - JE(same as VL/VL turbo)
18rg EFI manifold including throttle body, throtle position sensor, injectors - can be difficult to find.
air flow meter computer loom
this will get it running, other things that make it run nicer ( in cold whether include
cold start injector in the EFI manifold most should come with this
thermo time switch water temperature sensor
Not sure with the 18rg where these last two sensors go, you may need a different thermostat housing.
My advice to you is, if your plan in the future is to spend the extra dollars on microtech then hold off for that. You must remeber with injection alone it is unlikely that you will gain more power, more torque perhaps better economy and possible slightly more tuneability are the advanatges you will see from this system on an 18rg. If that is all your after and you want to do it cheap then the 3tgt system above could provide this.
As an end note things missing you would need for this setup include:
EFI fuel pump - use a camira JD - JE(same as VL/VL turbo)
18rg EFI manifold including throttle body, throtle position sensor, injectors
Hope this helps

where are you located again?
Ben
the bloke at my celica wreckers said i can use my current maifold for dual throttle bodies? I am still new to efi, Have dealt with carbys so far in all my cars!
Im going efi for driveability reasons, Not for a power increase! im just sick and tired of the bogging down and the bullshit take off's! hence tunability

Ben,
You can use the current manifold with weber style throtle bodies, but last time I checked these cost minimum of $400 each and you need 2! Get an 18rg manifold to start with, I sold one a year or so back for $150. Look around you should be able to get one for under $200. That would be your first step find that and your %70 there. By the way I don't mind answer your questions at all so fire as many as you like it puts my add back on top.

rodger this is a bit off the track but the thermosencor u talk about on a 3tgte does this operate a termofan and if so where is it located and how does it work as i have a 3tgte in my ta22 soon to be engineered &ive been looking for a switch like this but my housings off 2 different 3tgtes has a senser for the haltech a light senser and a factory senser with a green end is this the switch u mean or is there another

celica_freek,
No the sensor will not run a thermo fan, you may be able to put a sensor in there that does, but I don't know about that. The 3tgteu never had a thermo fan. The thermo time switch I talk about is not what you need, as this switches when the engine is warm you want something that switches when hot ie + 90 deg. If you have the standard fan setup why not run that? I personally like mechanical fans less to F#%$ up than thermo fans. But just my opinion. You can get after market kits for a resonable price. Are you running haltech surely it sensors the water temperature, don't you have auxillary outputs? why not switch one of these on at 90 deg or so and theres your switch.

yes i am running a haltech but it is an old e6 and has no extra out puts, the ports in the thermo housing are to small for a laser sensor thermo fan, and theres no room between the radiator and the motor for the mech clutch fan,so i have no choise other then to run a thermo fan, as i to would rather a mech fan then a electric, just thought that i was missing something.

Celica freek,
Ok, If you can't fit one in the housing, take your radiator to the raditor shop and get them to solder in a mount for your sensor shouldn't cost more than $30 or so to do. I was able to run a the mech fan with my raditor, but I had to chop the lip that sticks out of the raditor mount panel top( the bit that bolts on the top of the ta22 raditor support pannel thing) off and then the raditor mounts flush on the raditor support pannel. But it all depends on the raditor you use of course mine is a RA23 item I think.
