after a bit of a drive today it became hard to change into 3rd and 4th gear.
when i bought the car a few months ago the box was excellent except for the a bit of slop.
after a bit of a thrash today the box became hard to get into 3rd and forth gear.
what could the problem be.
i read somewhere that there was a bush in the top of the box that wears out and causes slop and some springs that guide it into gear. is this right or wrong?
to get it into gear i have to get it precicley into the right spot or the shifter wont move.
id be looking mostly at your 3/4 synchro assembly or your 3/4 shift fork assembly that be the most obvious place to start, its probabaly a internal problem and youll have to pull the whole box out to find it!

well as far as mine goes, ive replaced the bushes and even got another shifter as i thought there may be an extra spring i was missing because i bought the box from a mate and he just fished up a shifter for it but it all seems ok, and no it won't select 3rd or 4th with the engine off unless you lift it.
