Question about cutting hole in bonnet for Levin scoop

Need info about cutting hole in AE92 bonnet.
For those that have done this - did you just cut out the same shape and size as original hole and then bend the front and rear edge down and bolt on the scoop. Did you reinforce it (weld where need) for strength.
Panel beater has suggested cutting a larger area from original Levin bonnet (about 6 inches out side the original hole) and then cutting same size hole in my Australian bonnet and welding it in.
I think this is going to cost me heaps and I need to let him know by tomorrow (Tuesday). Kevin

all i know is that it's probably not a good idea to cut into the bonnets bracing, if you want to see an engineer. if you dont cut the bonnet there should be enough strength without the need to reinforce.
