	| HELP!! GZE s/c issues | Fri, 13 June 2003 02:54 | | |
	| Hey peoples, I need your help.
Drove home at lunch time today, and noted that sometimes the supercharger wasn't kicking in until I squeezed the throttle a bit more.
Sometimes I can hear it's whine (cause the belt's not right, I'll fix that soon) then sometimes I can't hear it at all.
Obviously, it runs better when the s/c is actually running, but when it's not, a quick push on the throttle, and it snaps on with a squeek (belt slip) then pops off again.

I also thought it was weird that the damn thing started idling high, and whadayaknow, the damn s/c isn't turning off!

It happend last night too, the s/c just kept on spinning at idle for about 10mins, then pop, it stopped turning (clutch obviously disengaged)

But why the heck is it doing that? Any suggestions?

	| Does your s/c keep running at idle too? | |

	| the s/c spinning all the time will not effect your idle. the ABV is open at idle.
i had a fixed pulley on mine, and the idle was fine.

my old s/c which had the clutch would still spin it idle, but it wasnt engaged. it would look like it was, but it must of been a little drag on the clutch set-up?.
if i grabbed hold of the inner bit of the s/c pulley, it would stop spinning. and if i gave it a rev from the throttle body, i could see it engage and hear the small click.

the s/c is spose to be operated/engaged when the ECU picks up a certain level in your vacum (i'm not sure how vacum is measured, but noramlly when it got to -8 on my guage it would engage).
you can actually drive a gze with-out the s/c engaging if you dont apply much throttle.

	| Thanks Feral. Really? I can get to 0 vacuum without it engaging, then 'chirp' on it goes.
Sometimes it'll be on and I can hear it going and I'll get nice acceleration from down low.
When it's not on, it's like it's a twin cam all over again.
I wonder why it idles high sometimes

I can even hear it on when decelerating sometimes (it whines because of the belt) then other times it doesn't.
   Hmmmmmm.....
Time for an intake strip down and clean.

	| its above the gbox area theres 2 types of relays
just hold it in yr hand while its plugged in and
free rev the engine quickly and it should click
if it doesnt pull the relay apart and see if its rusted

	| With regards to your idle, do you have a front mount intercooler?
Front mounts are known to cause a lot of idle problems.
