Can anybody give any specifics on what they are going to run?
I heard they were going to run a hybrid Corolla. What exactly are the rules on Group N???

From what I read, they're gonna be using GT-Four running gear beneath the Corolla shell...

If thats the case, maybe itll go into the "experimental" category until the WRC class comes back.

Yhis situation really confusues me... I guess if Toyota are serious, they must have had words with someone at CAMS...
You see, with the experimental class (let's not call it Group G...), if you win an event, and want to be in the running for the Championship, I thought that you would have to move to a Group N car.... supposedly the only people who could run the 'modified' cars were those not on the National List posted by CAMS at the start of the season...
I will tell you now, there is no way in Hell that Bates will be running a Corolla with GT4 running gear in Group N. The rules for Group N require a few more than one or two versions to be made.... road-going cars... etc. etc.
I'd love to see the Corolla there, but I can't see how it can fairly run, especially in the hands of someone like the Master....
Unless Toyota have done a deal with the Devil (CAMS)...
Oh, and you won't see the WRC cars back until International events... why run a WRC if you can (a) run Group N, and (b) can't score points....

The idea was that the WRC class cars would come back into the ARC once there was more than 2 teams to run in it. So for this season, they have an experimental class which would allow newcomers to WRC to be able to test thier cars. They were hoping that maybe peguot or hyundai would take this up this year, so that we could have bates and the new cars back in a WRC class for the next season.

Not likely now that everyone (read: Channel 10, Mitsubishi and Subaru) is so happy with the championship.... the fact that we now have a good handful of people able to win an event rather than just two will keep the WRCars out for long enough.
Besides, even if Peugeot and/or Hyundai entered a car, it would still be just that... A CAR... Bates isn't likely to run the Corolla WRC much because it isn't competitive with the Subaru... so you have three cars max... and who will be in them? My money would be on a Possum whitewash... then Subaru would get bored and go somewhere else.
I think it's more likely that Subaru would prefer to win in an even fight.... that's where the advertising is...

The new prototype rules act as the following: a) a nominated car has to be put to CAMS for Homologation with CAMS only ie can't run in FIA run events. b) two classes: 4WD and 2WD c) the car has to use engine and drivetrain from and existing production vehicle. d) they do have a power cap for the 4WD turbo's close to a group N car. The 2WD's have even less restrictions and no power cap.... basically their thought is a 2WD would never beat a 4WD, especially on Gravel...a Tarmac event could cause an upset in my eyes.
