 ST185 - door check strap - genuine Toyota parts ripoff

The door check straps (the thing that holds the door open) on my GT4 don't hold the doors open anymore (I park on a hill), so I went to Toyota yesterday to get a price on a new one. They quoted me $199 each! What the? Does anyone know of a cheaper way to replace them? The doors are pretty heavy (much heavier than a Corolla for example) so would need a pretty heavy duty strap. Anyone replaced one before? Anyone know if one off another model would fit? I don't like my chances of finding a anything at a used parts place - & if I did they'd probably be just as worn.

Part of owning a sports car is the exotic prices too 
My friend's GT4 is currently undergoing a few repairs..
- diff cradle bush or something
- New afm
The afm has to come from japan and is the last one in the world apparently.. Guess the price?
$1900!
Lucky its under a dealer warrenty which runs out in a week

HA! try 400 dollars for a set of st185 Gt4 mudflaps !!
or 320 dollars for a second hand - non tested driveshaft 
OR 140 odd for the little mash grill inserts for a Group a Bumperbar
for a NEW group a bumperbar and mount - EX japan - its about 670 dollars - which is about the cheapest of the lot considering the rareness ..
Gt4's and pocket friendly for most parts!
Re door straps - try to find a st184 SX and get the straps off that - the doors are identical as far as i know - bar the inner door skin

re afm - sounds like its nearly cheaper to swap to an aftermarket ECU that doesnt rely on AFM if thats the price !

what would you want for the pop up headlight " eyebrows " and the plasticy grill thing that runs between them ?
PS model is a 1990 one or later ?
Does it still have doorskins ? ?

ha - well owning the Gt4 has given me experience in parts pricing - and i think the toyota parts guy downtown is trying his best to scare me into buying a commodore or a falcon - So far HE HAS NOT SUCCEEDED!!! 
I will pay your prices evil parts guy - and leave your joys of breaking another toyota owner in tatters
!!!!
