Wheel nuts...where do I get them for a Soarer? Sun, 15 June 2003 10:20 Go to next message
G'day

Looks like my thread about my tyres wearing out got deleted...well I can't find it anyway.

I got EVERYTHING checked out on the weekend and it turns out that my wheels were out of align just a little but the biggest problem was that my wheels were way out of balance...thus the reason why they wore out unevenly and really fast.

Well I ended up selling those wheels and putting my Soarer wheels back on...just to keep it looking standard. When they went to put the Soarer rims on I didn't have the Toyota nuts. Only the Nissan ones. Apparently they are different for the different rim. Well we ended up having 5 people driving all around town looking for 20 nuts of the right sizes without much luck. We only got 3 from the local Toyota Dealer that would fit...at $9 each!!

I know the nuts needed are exactly the same as our old MX73 Cressida.

Does anyone know of a wrecker in a bigger town that has lots at a cheap price? I don't exactly want to spend almost 200 bucks on wheel nuts!!

Thanks

Steve

this is probably too late but local current shape magna factory alloys use a very similar nut.they are both 12X1.5 thread and have a washer type arrangement! DON'T ever put nissan nuts on a toyota as they have 12X1.25 thread.hoping you are going to keep a close eye on tyre wear with new wheels.cant really see imbalance and small wheel alignment error causing massive-excessive tyre wear that quickly, unless an error in toe of around 10mm+ if you can post w/align printout,it could be interesting to compere before and after.

also just thinking with the wheel balance side of it of course it will change if tyre has worn unevenly.balance will not cause massive tyre wear unless the car shakes so bad that you would not even drive it.would be interested to see the wheel alignment report.

better of getting the either new rubbers of you can also adjust the amount of pressure you are running in the tyres that may also help your tyre wear situation!!!

I went to the wreckers yesterday and got some Toyota Celica wheel nuts. They went on alright and the guy at the wreckers seemed to think they were OK for the Soarer...although he had never seen or even heard of a Soarer before...he thought it was a Peugeot!!

Will these be ok?

beerfart...it's too early to tell if I am getting excessive tyre wear but all my problems seem to have dissappeared when it comes to the stange feelinging in the steering when on anything near lock.

The car wasn't really ever shaking too badly either.

I would love to re-do all the suspension up ASAP. Know any places that can do this with a Soarer in Melbourne or Canberra? I don't need anything flash and don't want to go lowered. I think I need the bush in the steering replaced too. I saw this on a website and the part is cheap but how hard is it to fit?

The new tyres are some cheap Khumo 235 / 60 / 16's

They are really quiet tyres but am suspect on grip levels...they squeel soooo easily!!
