icon5.gif  Will XA-XF Falcon shocks fit a celica? Mon, 16 June 2003 01:16 Go to next message
Anyone know if this is doable or even feasable? I know Nark had commodore struts in the back of his ra60. I have IRS so i need somehting a little longer, say 3". I don't even know what year an XA-XF falcon is, or whether they're the same kind of 'ring each end' shocks the celica has, or what length they might be...
Any ideas, guys?

XA Falcon commenced production in 1971, and the XF production ceased in 1986/7.
The fronts definitely won't work - you need strut inserts and Falcons had a double wishbone arrangement. The rears may possibly work but you will need to check the mounting arrangement, and also the the fully bumped and extended lengths.

Thanks. I don't know fords. I just did a bit of reasearch then to find out the years. I wouldn't even consider the fronts, but I thought the rears had a fair chance of being interchangeable.
Wonder how i can find out the lengths/mounts...

Have ruler, will travel!

Pedders are generally good for very little, but one thing for sure is they will have shocks for XF Falcons in stock. Go down there ask nicely and they may let you measure them up - feed them some line that you want to compare them with your standard XF shocks. You have a set of RA65 shocks in your car which will take 5-10 minutes to drop.

Remember that the bump rates will be quite different - I doubt that Pedders will have (or even understand) that information.

thanks, Mr Tomato
I doubt Pedder's would know either Wink My reasoning is, a big ugly car like that that is hardly going to be lighter that my celica, so if anyhting they should be a little stiffer.
