Ae86 Possibilities????

I was wondering... Is it possible to fit central locking into it. Fairly simple question....
And i have also heard about people doing hiace? Hilux? Upgrades for rear axle. lsd???
I have no idea about these things.
But i'd like to know. If these are vaguely lsd and how much would these upgrades cost? And how and where they got the parts for the upgrade.
As for headlight switch.... I have pulled out my dashboard multiple times. And it is running better... But the lights in the dash keep turning off when headlights are on. has anyone fitted an aftermarket 3 stage switch for it?
Last but final...
With the introduction of the new corolla sportivo with teh 1.8 liter powerplant putting out 141kw at 7800rpm... Whats teh odds of throwing one of them in. I know its alot of work. but hey! its possible?? isn't it???

course it's possible to fit central lockin!
People use the diff from a Hilux which has LSD and drum brakes .. but it has to be modified/shortened to fit. Get from wreckers, it'll cost you a bit all up.
That's the gist of wat i know really .. so not much sorry

u mean fitting central locking into a sprinter? of coz! You can find universal kits at most of the car electronic store.
the only diff that bolt into place of the aussie spec sprinter is the jap spec diff.
To get any other diff fit into a sprinter, you need to mod the diff. And it's cost around 1.5k - 2k including the diff i guess.
There's someone in brisbane selling a Commodore LSD rear ready to fit into a sprinter for 1.6k.
as for the 2zz-ge corrola 1.8L engine, it's the same as the new celica engine. i am afraid this engine will not bolt onto any rwd gearbox. And becoz it's really new, the price will be so expensive. If you have that kind of money, and would like to go thru all these hassles...there are loads of better engine than this one...for example...
Turbo: SR20DET, CA18DET, 13BT, 1GGTE, 3SGTE..
N/A: 3SGE(Beams), SR20VE, or the ultimate F20C
And all these engine will have a existent gearbox to go with it.
I don't know how hard to get a gearbox to fit into the 2zzge, but i would think that all the above conversion is more powerful, less money(except the s2000). And more parts to mod and fix as they are not that new.

3s-gte gets expensive when looking at a custom bellhousing to mate to RWD gearbox.
I've heard the ae86 goes damn hard with a 1g-gte. (with that little weight I wouldn't be suprised)

yes central locking can be fitted
the headlight switches have a common failure with dry joints, pull the switch apart and resolder the connections and it will work fine for another 100,000Kms

I've done resoldering and stuff on the switch... i'll give it another shot on the weekend... for the 4th time.
The central locking is not a problem as i heard... you need a fairly heavy duty central locking for a sprinter. Is that true? i have been quoted 150 for the central locking... plus 50 per door.. hows that sound???
With a weighup between car alarm systems. which is better...
Mongoose or Viper alarms... When i mention them they are the top of the range pager models. So use them as a comparison. The price ranges from 800+ for the viper. And 500 installed for mongoose. Remote start is not a big issue. Mongoose supposedly doesn't have it. So use them as a factor..

I put remote central locking in my sprinter a few months ago, got a kit from Dicksmith. The trickiest part is running the wires through the body of the car. The past few days of rain in Victoria has made the effort all worthwhile.
I've seen the 2zz-ge in a RWD config before, although it was on the net. It was in a T-18, not sure what gearbox or bellhousing combo they used. This engine would suit the Sprinter perfectly. Low torque is good for preserving gearboxes

I had a Viper alarm on my old car and now have a Mongoose alarm on my AE86. There is really no difference between the two - both had rolling codes, two stage shock sensor blah, blah, blah. The only difference was that the Mongoose cost a fair bit less.
I think whoever told you that you need a heavy duty central locking kit is having a lend of you. $250 for central locking is a rip off. I paid around $550 for my alarm including remote central locking.

why would you want that corolla sportivo/celica engine when theres heaps of engines already available...
my suggestion would be the 20v 126kw black top off an ae111.
they are still a 4age, and so can be put in *fairly easy...
plus it's a proven fact that they not only unaffect the weight balance of the car... but actually makes it closer to 50/50...
my 2 cents..
rock on.

i paid only $29 for my centrallocking kit (was 4 door version, apparently the 2 door version is $50 ish- go figure, no difference between both, appart from the extra 2 rear door actuators), took about 2 lazy hours to install and wire into my alarm for keyless entry.

Thanks for the advice guys.
Much appreciated.
Seems like home central locking is the way to go. I'll have a shot at it i guess. I'll holler if anything f**** up
