CCG website Tue, 17 June 2003 00:28 Go to next message
just a quick msg to say that the CCg website is under new adminstration, and will be adjusted and updated, therefore. somethings may seem a lil odd at the site.. eg links not working
pics not working.. blah blah blah.

we do know and we will get the site sorted out asap.

also. phil and i were throwing around some ideas such as a parts wanted/for sale section, and a section for stolen cars.. that sorta thing, so keep visiting and who knows.. it may be your car on the opening page! Smile

Yeah, the random picture idea is good. Chances are you're already thinking along these lines, but the random picture should not be the main body of the home page.

Speaking of which, I think the CCG needs a logo....

Edit: I really need to start proofreading my posts before posting them

A CCG Logo.... yes.....

That's something I would like to have a shot at if your considering it.

Might go well for the graphic design part of my course.

Chris and all....

I should have posted a notice on TOYMODS advising that Chris has kindly agreed to look after our very outdated website, now that we have access to the password again. After many discussions we are floating ideas for the CCG. Following are some of the proposed events and ideas for the site. However, I should raise the most common concern with members is the privacy issue. Many members do not wish to have any personal details on the site. I think we can get around this by having a voluntery policy on what details members wish to have on the site. Maybe just car description, pic, owners first name and mobile????

Anyway, Phil and I are creating a 'Calendar of Events', taking into account all the input from our members, that will allow people to plan ahead for our events. So some ideas so far are:
Paintball - Well done Ben! Already set for Sundy 29th June!
Observation Run
Economy Run
Motorkana
Dyno Day
Gokarts
BBQ
Swap meet
'Club' photo shoot
Trips to Bathurst Museum, Temora Aviation Museum, Wakefield Park, Eastern Creek, Maruya Dirt Karts, Cotter, Cooma etc etc...
Tech night visits to Bates Automotive, Wheels Factory, Car Care Centre etc.
Also being negotiated with the TOYMODS Group is a joint meeting between Canberra and Sydney. Now this will be a great outing!!!!

Thanks heaps Chris. Visit our 'updating' site at:
http://www.geocities.com/social_ccg/index.html

Cheers.

Mitch and Phil

If you guys need programming stuff or advice etc. give me a yell...

I'm a programmer, so design-wise, I'm dead in the water but anything else...

I also don't mind doing some updates and maintenance etc. given that I spend most days online anyway...

casey,

As far as I can tell, they're not planning on doing anything too extravagant.

Gumby,

I'll put my hand up as a helping hand if you need it also.

Would it work if the ACT was green and the logo is gold or silver?

/edit: ignore that. I think using green would be tacky.

Here are a few variations that have been done. Found a font similar to the celica font.

Note: I thought It may be best if the colors are kept fairly neutral.

(I personally like the black and grey one.)

Nahh give me a size and I will make you one specially for it, It takes me about 5 seconds to color in the vector outlines and it's done. It will look a lot more crisp this way rather than just resizing it which can blow the pixels out.

Plus I was going to muck around and make a decorated version for the site I'll show you that when it's finished.

I would have isolated your car by lightening the color of the entire background and then blurred it big time. And put the logo on it with only the car and logo in crisp focus. Wink

Edit: But then again I don't think that would look any good. Embarassed

But it's doesn't look to bad... good job Nod Smiley =

Thumb nails would be ok but some of the events are going to attract a lot of happy snaps and for the people woth dial up connection it will take ages but i suppose you cant keep all the people happy all the time.
Just an idea what if in the members area we have hyper links to peoples rides so we know who drives what.

Chris

Originally on my website I had the gelleries in powerpoint slideshows. Basically you make the slideshow and when you "save as" you can save it as a "html" and it will create a folder to upload with all the nessesary files to have an online slide show.

One idea.

Otherwise you can have like on the original website where they are thumbnails you click them to enlarge and click again to shrink.

Two idea.

Or the standard thumb galleries are also good.

Looks great - good colour scheme! Cool

But if I could add my 2c worth! I reakon we should go with the colour logo except fix up the dragons tongue!! it has started to dither and is a bit of a blur! If you remove the light blue outline from around the dragon then emboss the edge - almost like a 3d - that would be a really neat logo!
I can give it a go if you want... Rolling Eyes

Anyway - coming along really well!!!
