New engine for the Sprinter Wed, 18 June 2003 10:29 Go to next message
I managed to pick up another very late model Altezza front cut the other day, and in the light of recent police activity in QLD, the engine is going to go into the Sprinter dead stock. I figure since they have a genuine 200hp and the Sprinter weighs a good 300 - 400kg less then an Altezza, it'll still go quite well.

The car had a rear shunt, and so the front is completely undamaged, and it's done about 12,000km so is like brand new.
The conversion starts at a friend's place this Friday. Pics to come as stuff happens.

Yes, I can get it rego'd with that engine in it. In QLD I could put in a two litre turbo engine and it would be fine.
I have a friend who has already said he'll make out a mod plate for it.
The gearbox I'll be using is a secret for the moment ... Wink

I haven't tried yet, but the guy that's helping me get it registered says it won't be a problem, as long as I use the stock engine to get the licence plates.
So after that happens, it's back home to pull the engine out and put all the gear I want to put on it! Smile
What we're likely to do though is to pull the engine out of the Sprinter (it'll be dead stock) and slot it into the Fraser to get rego, then put the warmed-up 3SGE into the Fraser after that.
By doing that, I can build the Fraser's 3SGE the way I want it the first time no probs.
