Since the 18RG engine has larger bores, the distance between the two carbies is larger than the distance between them on a 2TG. Some modifications to the "equalizer bars" between the carbies are required. You could modify them yourself with some difficulty, but your better off using the throttle linkages off the 2TG carbies (just bolt off and replace). The bolt patterns are the same, and mechanical linkages may need some minor adjustment. 18RG carbies run well on a 2TG, provided they have been jetted and tuned accordingly.

I think celicara45 is right, 18RG solexes are 40mm.

ok, just a thought....

**18rg and 2tg had 40mm std**

**18RG carbies run well on a 2TG, provided they have been jetted and tuned accordingly.**

Ok.... if they are the same carbies on a 2tg, and the same on a 18rg, then why put 18rg carbies onto a 2tg if they are going to be the same ?! sounds like a bit of hassle and mucking around rather than just getting the existing set of carbies tuned properly, I know they go out of tune and out of sync. with each other eventually, but the money is worth being spent on good tuning...

Oh, and I obviously don't know how to use the "quote" button properly either..

I do!! Its the button with "Quote" written on it Very Happy . hehe.

Apparently the first generation of solexs toyota used on their 2TGs worked better and had less difficulties than the 18RG solexes. Personally I would prefer to use 2TG solexs but someone's g/friend took them off me Shocked

All the sidedraft Solex-Mikuni 2T-G carbs were 40mm. It will even say 40 on the casing. 18R-G memory is not as Good and I have my manual out on lone but the 18R-G did get 44 Solex Mikunis.
