is it normal for a stock 18RGU to rev past 8000rpm and still pull for 10kph more, btw my tach only goes to 8000,
it has been rebuilt, with rebuilt carbs {jetted a little rich}
and a std 18RC {read: 1.5 inch} exhaust and tuned lenght extractors

well it is normal for the engine to rev this high if you keep your foot on the accelerator, but revving above 7000 or 7500 wouldnt be recommended unless you want to cause undue stress on your engine

10km/h more pull in which gear? If it be first gear then I think that your tach isn't reading correctly. A common problem with aftermarket tachos is to have the dip switches set incorrectly. May be worth consideration.
From personal experience 18RG's don't pull much past 6000. They do rev hihger that 7k but a waste of time past 6k.

didnt some model 18rg's get more power up higher then lower... having bigger valves then some heads? it maybe going to 7k if it is all set up right it maybe going there quite comfortabley some are better at top end then others depending on the head some heads have small valves and some heads ahve big valves i thought.. that might be why it goes to 8 comfortably but then again i could be wrong. the twin solex's run rich which might give it better top end as well
