ae86 - wheel offset question Thu, 19 June 2003 12:20 Go to next message
hey guys

i have 2 x SSR reverse mesh 15x7 with a +40 offset
these wheels have 205/50/15 tyres on them

will they fit on an ae86 without fouling the bodywork or suspension?

i think it will most likely rub your front strut. mighy be ok for the rear though.

I have the same wheels, 15x7's but I am unsure about the offset!

Though a 40 offset sounds like a FWD offset!

I tried a set off a silvia, some WORK EWINGs, 16x7 probably 35-40 offset.
Fronts rub on the struts just, 205 tyres
Rears only rub on one side, i need a adjustable panhard rod, but still it wouldn't be right. The wheels sit way too far under the car.
The scrub radius for the front would be way off, your car will not feel 'right'.

I'm not a 100% sure dude, but I was thinking my rims where something closer to like 15 offset! I don't know, I'm really incompetent with regard to knowledge on offset Very Happy
Will try to find out for you!

As for colour, its like a dark charcoal center and highly polished rim! Anyone willing to host a pic for me??

It'll be the first snippet of my sprinter for all to see, since the build!

+40 offset is definitely for a FWD car ... I did a bit of research on the Club 4AG forums and what everyone says is that you need at least zero offset for 15x7". You can get away with +12 or so but it will sit a bit inwards.

I bought mine thinking they were SSR mesh with +17 offset although they turned out to be look-alikes BUT have perfect offset so I'm a happy camper. Smile

Here's a pic of mine:

And here's Speedcore's one (no time to resize):

ok i c

hrmm

for a 15x7.5 wide wheel, what would be the best offset to have a flush line with the guard??

not inward or outward just dead flush with the guard to fill it out?
