ra28 - windows fogging up lots in winter

hi all
this question is to do wil my ra28, but probably applies to a lot of the early celicas.
whenever its winter, the car, especially the rear window, fogs up terribly to a point where the condensation is actually large dripplets of water.
when i look in the boot near the spare, the paintwork on the metal is usualy damp, in winter that is, but the car doesn't smell mouldy inside.
i'm assuming that some, if not all, windows seals are leaking and there is moisture gathering in the car beacuse of this.
am i right in this asumption? has anyone else had this trouble with an ra28 (or simialr celica)? what did you do to fix it? what is a ball park figure on how much to pay to fix it?
thanks and any suggestions welcome
ev

You are not the only one who has had this problem, RA28 boot seals leak from every where.
My tip, remove it, check for rust under it, fix it if it needs it and then silicone the bastard back on. Also silicone under the window seal on both the window and metal side.
Good luck with it.

instead of silicon - give Sealastic Window Seal Repair a go... i did and it worked better than silicon.... more flexible, easier to apply and seals better on varying surfaces.

When I got my RA28 I had the same problem. After stripping the boot and after fainting at the rust hiding in some places I got busy with a wire wheel, some killrust and some bituminous paint (the auto stuff not the plumbers :0).
The rubbers in the boot are a little squashed but the guy had the boot sitting high on the lock to avoid a small rattle. I have lowered it again (putting up with small rattle after 4000RPM) and now the boot is sitting better on the rubbers and I get a lot less water coming in (only a few drops per trip in the wet which just sits harmlessly on the bitumin until it evaporates). The bituminous paint also helps reduce the amount of noise from the back of the car.
I will be trying out myself the "Selastic Window Seal Repair" that "The Witzl" recommend's though as the boot seal is sitting on some hastily repaired metal (most of it was eaten through with rust and the previous owner tried to rebuild it with melted lead/solder) which still has lots of holes.

My 28 fogs up teribly, both the front and rear windscreen as well as all the windows, I belive that the water is getting in mainly behind the dash somewhere as somtimes when I drive off I get a splash of water on my feet(after rain). However it basically just fogs up all the time I think I'm carriing round a lake, the Rear screan I generally can't see out of anyway casue of dirt.

LOL, you sure you arent driving around in 2ft of water or something :0)
Try taking off the metal plate that sits over the wipers (between the bonnett and the windscreen) and see if there's a gap under the windscreen. If possible selastic the biatch!

I am guessing your rear defogger is damaged and doesn't work any longer.
The best way to deal with fogging problems is to drive with the windows open all the time, you'll want a really good beanie and gloves but it should do the trick.
