Well this is the Tow beast Wink

http://www.toymods.org.au/~rod/Crowns/60-70%20Series/MS65's/Rods%201974%20MS65/Crown%20Cruise%20003.jpg

Its still just a basically stock old MS65. Over 500,000k's on the clock and still going great!

Suspension is stiffeened and Raised for towing/touring.
Rear diff is an F series MS85 unit with the 10" rear drums.
The 4M benefits from a 5M-E electronic ignition and a Celica 5 speed (W50) but is otherwise stock.
Wheels and Tires are now 195/70 white walls on crown steelies and factory hubcaps all round.
The rear venetian almost completes the package. Just needs the front Visor now and its basically done Smile

Interior is still nice and tidy with new Black Carpet and its second Drivers seat.

The electrical system has seen some attention with the car being completely rewired to remove some issues it had and add in the Factory Airconditioning (Still not conected in the bay Sad ). It also received a Halegeon Headlight Upgrade (90/100 watt Low/High Beam and 150 watt Landing lights) Its soooooo good at night on the open road Smile

And even old cars need tunes, Pioneer CD played, 300watt 2 channel amp and some 6 x 9's sort that out nicely.

Alternater of course then needed replacing to an 85 amp unit and it runs a 670CCA Truck battery as well.

Basically its as Toyota released it and I must say other than the fuel bill I love it ! (Shes a Thirsty old bitch)

And yes all my Cars are female Wink

(Edit: updated and new pics to keep it 56k friendly, All old pics still available here:

How well are those 235's sitting on the 6.5" rims? If the 215's don't provide enough grip I may be looking for something bigger later Smile

JCMF,

The 235's are on but they are verging on being under-rimmed. Being a 65 profile they are ok and actually hang on very well but i wouldn't want to have any lower a profile without a wider rim. The side wall would ballon out to far.

If I can get the right offset I'd much prefer a set of 7" or even 8" rims under there. The bloody ford offset sit's to far out.

Well she made the 1/2 a million mark yesterday ! 500,000 k's and still going strong Smile

And in case you were curious she weighed in today at 1560 kg including me (85kg) and all my usual contents. Thats with an almost full tank too.

And just to complete the picture she turned a whopping 40rwkw at Dyno day 7... go the 4M ! Rolling Eyes

The old girl is very much staying around now and that 40 rwkw is soon to be sorted out. It helps if the secondary's work LOL.

She is now riding on Series 2 MS123 Crown rims (14" x 6") and has a new set of plates that suit her better.

Here's the current pics Smile I really do love the rear venetians and the blackout treatment on the grill has worked a treat.

Kirsty also spent a couple of days and stripped the paint off the headlight surrounds and polished em up. I think it looks heaps better now.

I think I drove past this the other day in Epping. Would that be it?

Not my cup of tea, but I can really appreciate a very well looked after old car.

Looks very nice Rod!
