what size k&n pod to use on stock AE92 4AGE intake for WAI

I'm assuming this would be a fairly simple mod:
remove stock air filter box
replace with pod filter (onto the stock hose between the manifold and the box, or something similar for warm air intake
what size filter (and/or part num) would/do people use ?
Also: where does the afm attach to the intake, what is that wire at the front/side of the air filter box ?
thanks

hmm funny you should ask. We bought a pod filter for my friends AE92 and turned out to be way more hassle than it was worth. Especially when you could just drop a 'drop-in' K&N in there and run a cold air pipe into your air box.
This way you get colder air, and you don't have to have bits and pieces made up. I think there are a few other plugs in the AE92 air box that have to be considered too?
Sure there is less rice value and doesn't have the full sound, but it's up to you.

Yeah, I know. I'm probably going to try to increase the size of the pipe into the air box. Just curious, thanks for reply.
I'm thinking I'll try to aquire another air box so i don't have to hack my current one to pieces.

Yeah that is exactly what I did. I went to the wreckers, bought a second hand bottom half of my box and went sick with my Dremel to accomodate my pipe.
Look at my signature link.
But if I was going to do it all again (which I am) I would get maybe 80mm PVC pipe and make a rigid pipe, and tape it with heat-tape to keep the air cold as it goes up to the box rather than use a flexible one.
I think with the AE92 you can run a pipe down to the bottom of the grill somewhere, but I can't remember the exact spot.

yep, prolly a few options: down, replace original, straight forward (remove battery) - I don't really want to relocate the battery though. I'll work it out, should be fun.

yeah great, well put some pictures up when you do, I would be very interested in seeing how it all works out. We may try and do the same for this Corolla...

You are better off just putting in a K&N Panel Filter rather than the pod type filter. The AE92 air box has sensors attached to the airbox and if you were to put the pod on you would have to find a way to relocate the sensors. A bit of custom work to be done.
It is better to run with a panel filter and if you wish run a larger intake pipe on the front bar thats an option. Pods are just for more induction noise ... yes they have the ability to flow more than the panel filter but don't forget they are exposed to all the heat in the engine bay.
