well i have this oil leak on my 18rgu coming out just under the extractors. it only really seems to happen when i have a good fang, i start to smell oil after a little while.
just curious as to what the leak could be, and if i have to worry much about it. the amount of oil coming out is fairly small, as in it doesnt noticably decrease the level
thanx

Where abouts on the head is it coming from, the front, the back, the middle?

See if you can see a hole on the pic that it might be coming from.
I can't see anywhere that it might be leaking from as the oil holes aren't on the extractors side.
Make sure all of your oil plugs are done up and check for leaks from the cam cover, it might be dribbling down, but then it should be happening all the time.

well the oil is between cylnders 2+3.. theres shitloads of it hanging around under the outlet, but on closer inspection there is also oil above it, all the way up to the cam cover... although this may have something to do with the whole engine bay having a liberal coating of the stuff.
i'll hopefully be able to get a pic of it up by the weekend, but does it just sound like cam cover leak to you?

Give the engine a good degrease and go for a short run if its leaking as bad as you say it is you wont need to drive it for long
This way you can be sure of finding where it is definately coming from.

Sounds like a cam cover leak to me, I just had a look at ours and that is really the only place it could come from if you don't have major leaking from your head gasket or a cracked block.
