run in with some undercovers

was on silverwater road, showing a friend how to heel and toe.
being my usual fast self, I was heel and toeing from 4th to 3rd (hence doing around 100-110)
as I went to pull onto victoria road, I see the dreaded flashing lights behind me
I knew I was screwed, and not much chance of this being a warning either considering the speed I was doing.
anyhoo, I pull over and hop out, and the cop says "turn your car off and approach our vehicle"
now, my first thought was to say "I need to let my turbo cool down". Then logic kicked in, and I realised that would elad to larger problems. so off went the car (with a wince from me at what I was doing to it)
they did the usual checks, and then let me off with a "slow down.. you're lucky we aren't a highway patrol or you'd have lost your lisence"
took about an hour for my pulse to return to normal.
Undercovers aren't usually fitted with radars, are they? so they might not have just been nice cops, they mightn'y have been able to pn anything on me (because by the time they caught up to match speed, I was already slowing down for the turn)

The night I got my licence, a friend and I went to the Preston market carpark to do some burnouts. Within 30 seconds of laying my first licenced, burnout 3 undercovers appeared from nowhere. Just my luck, they happened to be staking out the carpark that night as it was a common place for drug deals (unbeknown to me!). I got the fright of my life as these huge burly detectives wrestled us out of the car (not that we offered any resistance) and cuffed us whilst they searched for any contraband. I got a pretty sound 'talking to' and lost my licence for a month! Too funny!

No the undercovers don't have radars in them from what I have seen, however if they did I'm sure that the nice ones that pulled me over at Eastwood a few months ago would have put me in gaol for sure.
What is the actual penalty for doing 110 in a 50 zone these days?

DiZ_ - 110 in a 50 zone = automatic 6 month suspension, plus 6 points (12 if you do it on a long weekend like me!) plus $1515 fine.
unfortunately i know this information 1st hand, got done going down Tomah Rd, backside of Carlingford a few weeks ago
if you guys know the street it's not exactly an accident 'black spot', 400m long, straight and the width of a freeway.

hobbs you poor bastard.
I know a girl who got done on her L's down there, 60 in a 50 zone.
another mate of mine got done for 30-45, 45+, failing to indicate (3 times), turning lights off at night, failing to pull over for police.. I think that's it.
he saw the cops while doinbgf 30-45, freaked 'cause he'd had a few beers, and tried todo the runner. after all that, they didn't even breathalise him .
I'm always careful down tomah, and willougby... I've seen cops there a couple of times.
(doesn't stop me testing out quarter mile times every now and then tho)

Raced a 3.5 Litre V6 magna sports a few weeks ago. Wet road. No traction. Thought it might give him a chance.
90 km/hr zone newcastle link road. I backed off once I was in front of him. 130 km/hr or so ... great display of lane changing torque steer ... He pulls up beside holding badge up to the window
Let off with a warning and told to fix my windscreen wipers

you lucky bastard
speaking of undercovers, 2 cops in an undercover car wrote it off on tomah street about a week or 2 ago.
for those of you who know it, it's a great place to thrash.
turns out they weren't chasing anyone either... speeding for no reason (I love police radios). so someone's gonna get in a lot of trouble

i'm guessing they must have done that taking the corner too fast there? in which case they MUST have been going hard cause that's a pretty wide corner. Any ideas what speed they were doing?

none ... I only heard the police radio report, and they dont bother estimating speeds and stuff like that.
was more the police and ambo response.
my brother wrote off my mum's acclaim on that same corner.
under age, unlisenced, uninsured, and very inexperienced.
took the car without asking (parents were away), thought he'd show his friends how cool he was, flicked the back out, big over correct, up the gutter, and finished up on top of a tree in someone's front yard
and you're right, the cops must have been going pretty fast, 'cause as I recall it was a dry night, and I've taken that kink in the road at over 100 (where tomah goes onto willoughby). the psycho who was racing me did it at at least 120, and used both sides of the road on both streets.

haha, every one talking bout Tomah Rd, some guys i know said about it, didnt think it was that well known.
anywayz might as well add in my tale of woe from the police then being let off.
was driving in the work delivery truck, 2.5 tonner, was in wetherill park, had pulled out of one of our warehouse driveways, turn a couple of corners, was just heading up the road to pick up a delivery, no seatbelt on, was coming up a hill towards the street i had to turn into, wasnt concentrating that hard, i see a ford cop car sitting on the right with lights flashing, copper steps out in front of me and flags me in, holds up the lidar gun and says you know you were doing 80 in a 60 zone, im like shit, admitted i wasnt concentrating properly, looking for the street i had to turn at, he looks up and goes why dont you have your seatbelt on?
i shit myself again, then i give him my license (2nd year green p's) he walks round the truck and goes wheres your p plates. im sitting there thinking it cant get any worse lol. he checks the truck weight, and says im driving a vehicle 500kg too heavy for the GVM on my license. i thought i was gone for sure, he let me off for the no seatbelt, the p plates, and not being licensed properly for a vehicle or something similar, he said he could see i was working and that i admitted i farked up, so he just gave me a ticket for the speeding, only wrote 15 over on the ticket, 2 or 3 points, plus $306 fine, it was a bit more cos of part of the unlicensed part. i thanked him and took the truck back to the warehouse then had to resign cos i couldnt drive the truck legally, was not a good day at all lol.
as the saying goes we all learn from our mistakes.

I got pulled over on the M4 in Sydney.
I was doing about 160 (in a bog stock Falcon) & undertook a Camry who then chased me.
I was about to ask about his speedo being calibrated when he decided to let me off with a warning.
Hence I shutup about the speedo & why he wasn't obeying the "Keep Left unless Overtaking" sign I pulled up beside.
You've got to be careful with unmarked cars.
The Unmarked Highway Patrol have radars, but all police cars have their speedo calibrated periodically, so if they match your speed you can be fined for that.

all this girlfriend talk..
I was driving the monaro and I got pulled in for an rbt, I had a p plate in the front window and the cop who tested my gave me a lecture about how it wasnt legal.
when he turned away my ex who was in the passenger seat started mouthing off, "I bet he'll f*in make me get out and f*cking move it" little did she know that there was another cop right beside her open window..
I looked at her, then looked out the window, she realised what was going on and slowly started winding up the window whilst looking at me with an embarest/horrified look...
I laughed and drove off.
now an undercover story..
I was late for training so I was in abit of a rush, it was peak hour and this light went orange infront of me, the guy beside me gunned it and went thru, i braked and stopped, I look to my left and theres 2 police in a gold camry, one pulls out a book and writes down his numberplate..
the thing is even if you go thru and its orange, you can still get booked. If u can stop without causing an accident, u have to stop.

If you did it at Footscray, not only a search you would have got tried for a roadworthy as well...
A mate(Australian) and I was in his VL Calais Turbo got pulled over, everything was ok about his licence, the policeman flashed the flashlight on me he asked my mate to open his boot (for contraband because I am Asian), lol...
Yet the same mate with on another night with an Australian friend he got a full road worthry, and the week after he got a blue canary for something he did not do (Accused for burnouts).
Now that is harsh...
Cheers.

gotta be really careful these days, all the un-marked cars around here have radars!
and theres a black SS ute with roll bars and a big KTM sticker across the read window which is an un-marked cop! any car can be an un-marked, just be careful and dont speed on public roads

I've had a close call with an undercover - We were at a servo and every 2nd car that pulled out of the driveway was ripping it up as they left (must've been oil on the road).
Seeing as I had the MX-5, I thought it couldn't hurt so i dropped a pretty decent burnout on the way out. About 2 min later i get a call from my friend saying that the car that pulled in behind us was an unmarked cop car! Luckily he's a quick thinker and stalled his huge-arse glass-carrying ute / truck thing in front of them so they couldn't see me and saved my butt~ he got a dirty look from them, but they couldn't do jack about it!
The only other close call I've had was dragging a mate's R33 down the Monash freeway - I slowed to about 90kmh from 140kmh as we came around a bend just in time to see the whole freeway blocked off by a dozen squad cars and 3 booze busses!

Lol.. The exact same thing happened to me one night coming home from a late shift in the city. A cop in a paddy wagon saw me fly down Market St (around the back of the QVB) and (unbeknownst to me) gave chase. He caught up to me when i was stopped at a set of lights after Anzac Bridge down behind Glebe sort of area..
Said he'd been doing 120 across the bridge and still couldn't catch me.. He would've LOVED to give me a ticket, but basically came out and said he couldn't because he couldn't catch up to get a speed reading! :phew:
|
dude they can't really hold that one up in court anyways. they either need a radar or a CALIBRATED SPEEDO (with the necessary cal sticker on the car). A paddy wagon has neither. At least that is how it used to work not all that long ago when I had relo's in the Highway Patrol.

We got up to 120 in a 50zone in newtown...uni finished early so we figured we'd go for a thrash in his VL 5.7L V8 with like 290kw at the wheels...scary shit going down a tiny street.
Then that night went to the sharks & souths game at cronulla with mates, got up to 150 in a 70 zone down king georges road. Mate sitting in the front seat screaming 'slow the fuk down'. He was the one telling me to go faster before....
