Are cops always in the right?

Was thinkinga bout this last night, after my incident with the undercovers (see war stories section)
If a cop comes up behind you, then high beams you to pull over, you slam on the brakes and he runs up the back of you... what would happen?
I mean, you could always say "I heard sirens behind me, and when I looked in my rear-view mirror there was a bright flash, and I couldn't see properly anymore, so I slammed on my brakes so I wouldn't crash"
anyone see a problem with this defence? the cops would be the ones not leaving a safe buffer zone between them and you

There is nothing wrong with doing that. All you have to say is that when they flashed their lights, you were temporally blinded and you thought your saw something on the road so you jumped on the brakes.
If they hit you then thats their fault.

besides the car traveling behind you should always be traveling at a safe enough distance away so that in a situation like this one they would have time to stop before hitting you!!! who ever runs up the arse is always in the wrong!!!!

Fantastic idea BUT the cops will turn around and say your now smashed up taillights weren't working so you are to blame for not having a roadworthy car.
In theory you have to maintain a safe distance between you and the car in front but how can you do that if their taillights don't warn you they are slowing down.

no htey wouldn't
they have to prove they didn't workbefore the crash.. otherwise since the vehicle is registered it's assumed they work.
and they'd have a really hard time proving anyhting about the taillights before the crash

well, when undercovers put their lights on, their high beams flash alternately.
I wouldn't really mind trying it.. I've already got some minor rear end damage, which would be nice to get fixed for free.
plus I have a tow bar, so I know I could do some decent damage to their car
but no.. I dont think I could do that to my baby.. I love her too much

BUUUUUT
You would be in the crap big time, as whatever they origionally were busting you for, you would get zero mercy factor. But if they were right up you before anyway, then maybe you weren't going to get any anyway.
I love it that there are no rules about how hard you can brake - thanx for the new brakes juzzo!
fun as it woudl be to have cop run up your butt... I always appreciate a few free panels...
