Throttle Bodys Tue, 24 June 2003 02:08 Go to next message
I read an article in Maximum Boost, and he was talking about airflow speeds in the inlet manifold, I want to know how much this does affect performance, and what do i change my throttle body for, or is it worth building a complete new manifold as well.

I have a 2TGteu, which will be boosted to about 12psi. Just about every thing else has been modified except the inlet side besides port matching.

Help appreciated.............

you could try a 22r throttle body if it fits.. thats if you wanna go cheaply. you can modify them to a big bore throttle body which will flow close to 600cfm aparently that would be fine. or you can do as what ed said.. i am not sure what is in it never read it could be sumfin better

on a street car twin staggered throttle bodies are best as it make the engine much more driveable with no hesitation or the smallest single that works in your rev range{needed cfm}. for drag racing the bigger the TB the less restriction hence no restriction, but it makes the engine flat up till 4000rpm as e.g. a 1.6 litre engine with a 75mm throttle body will have the same air able to flow threw it at half throttle as the nomal 100kw one at full throttle. so feathering the throttle is not very easy at all!
whats called an ON or OFF throttle, which makes them crap to drive on the street.

Thanks guys,

I have read Rod's great article, and realise i need a bigger throttle body, but what bolts on or will go on with little modification.

KingMick, you talked about staged Throttle bodys, it sounds like a good idea, i am all for drivability while putting out fairly large hp, where can i get my hands on 1, do they come on any factory fitted cars.
