hey guys...
i currently drive an auto widebody camry. (modified of course )...
recently i have encountered an oil leak, it seems to be coming from the rear main seal... and to fix it, i was quoted $600 or so... thinking abt it, i thought i might as well get a transmission swap since they will have to take the gearbox out to fix it anyways...
i like the occasion drags and stuff like that, so yeh... short ratios would be better i assume?
now, just wondering which gearbox is suitable for my car?
help would be most appreciated. THANKS.

go over to www.toyotanation.com there is a lot of info there. i see a tranny swap costing more than $600. go here for some info: http://www.tt-cc.com/ratko/swap/index.html it has the swap to you kind of camry (though it is 2 door).
i could be wrong but i think the celica box is different to the camry's. the celica can handle more power and is shorter geared.

yeh i know it will cost more than $600...
im just saying that i i get my rear main seal fixed, for $600, i might as well add a bit more money on top and get a manual conversion done.

fair enough. once my auto tranny blows (got a turbo to strap on the engine) then i'll be doing the swap. did you look at those sites?
